Ruth Ann Huber, 74, of Manheim, formerly of Willow Street, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Moravian Manor. She was the beloved wife of Michael Anthony Huber, sharing 49 years of marriage together. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Louise & Alvin Shenk (stepfather) who raised her; and the late Charles & Ruth Jacobs (stepmother). Ann was a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, class of 1961. For many years she cared for her family and home as a homemaker. After her children were grown, Ann was employed by Amish Farm & House as a tour guide and seamstress, retiring in 2005 with 20 years’ service. Ann had a talent for sewing, creating prom dresses, wedding gowns, and dolls over the years. She was also very creative with craft projects and made mini Christmas Trees and ornaments. In her spare time Ann enjoyed scrapbooking her family genealogical research. In her younger years Ann enjoyed canning and preserving fruits and vegetables. She also loved to plant flowers every year in the spring. Susan N. Wimer, 94, of Lancaster PA, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018. She was the widow of Jay R. Wimer who passed away in 1988. Susan had worked for several business’s in the area including, Tidy Products, Watt & Shand, Hubley, Hamilton Watch and the Lancaster Intell. Born in Ronks, PA, she was a daughter of the late Gerhard and Susanna Kruger Neustadter. She was a member of the Lancaster Art Association, and enjoyed painting. Hobbies included, dancing, amateur photography, shooting pool, and playing the organ. Juanita Bare Lam, 96, of Chatham, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Lee Willard Lam who passed away in 2001. Born in West Jefferson, NC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cardie Darnell Bare. Juanita enjoyed knitting, cooking, canning and yard sales. She is preceded in death by a son, David Lee Lam; one daughter, Lennett Madonna; and thirteen brothers and sisters, Inez, Anes, Gentry, Frances, Lloyd, Cecil, Delbert, Sanford, Betty, Irene, Algean, Josephine and Pauline. David Eugene McMillen, 63, of Drytown Road, Holtwood, PA passed away suddenly at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, March 25, 2018. He and his wife Della Watson McMillen celebrated 41 years of marriage. Born in Erie, PA he was the son of the late Robert C. and Ruth Foringer McMillen, Jr. David graduated from York Vo-Tech in small engine repairs. He had been employed as a cycle-man for Y&S Candies. He enjoyed get-together’s with family and was an avid hunter and fisherman, being a member of the Stoney Creek Anglers. Surviving beside his wife Della are 3 daughters, Faith (Brandon) Swanson, Crystal (Tony) Davis, Amanda (Larry) Kornbau; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister Cindy (William) Neff; and a brother Robert (Betty) McMillen. Florence R. Roka, of Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by Stephen Roka, her husband of 64 years. Born on the Bolton family farm in Holtwood, PA she was the daughter of the late Leslie Isaac and Mary Catherine Scott Bolton. Florence graduated from Grove City College, PA as a history major. Following graduation, she was a primary school teacher for 29 years, teaching in both the Oxford School District (PA) and the Montgomery County Public Schools (MD). Florence was a lifetime member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. She quilted with the Kings Daughters of Lancaster, PA. She enjoyed, knitting, going to the beach, reading, and was an avid Baltimore Orioles baseball fan. Ruth Frances Justice, age 88, of Peach Bottom, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 21, 2018. Born on September 8, 1929 in Swords Creek, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Mamie Victoria (Newberry) Short.
Ruth was an active member of the Oxford Church of God for over 42 years and was also active in doing missionary work. She lived for the Lord and hoped that everyone she knew was saved. She loved the Lord so much that she wanted everyone to accept the Lord as their Savior. Ruth also loved reading and flower gardening, but most of all, she loved her family. Barbara Ann Rudenos, 67, of Willow Street, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 22, 2018, following complications from a stroke. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Betty J. Myers, of Pequea, and the late Robert N. Myers. Barb graduated from Solanco High School in 1969 and was most recently employed as a certified nursing assistant home care provider by Medi-Quest in Lancaster. She was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster, and the Overcomers Sunday School class. She enjoyed planting flowers, going to the mountains, and traveling to Virginia. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and spending time with them. She was fun-loving and had an easy laugh. She was a peacemaker, a kind and gentle person, always thinking of others first before herself. “Her heart was the kindest and biggest of anyone we know and she never expected anything in return.” Gladys O. Gibson, 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Atglen, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Jennie (Eckman) Groff. She was married to the late Earl B. Gibson for over 55 years. Gladys was a homemaker and a long-time member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending time with her family. Gladys is survived by 2 sons: David Gibson of Paradise; and Philip, husband of Lucy Gibson of Gap. Also surviving are 3 grandsons: Joel, Christopher, and Derrick and 4 great-granddaughters: Kamryn, Madison, Mackenzie, and Harper. She was preceded in death by 4 siblings. June Kathleen Shepherd (Kitty June),90, of Oxford, PA, passed immediately into the arms of her Savior, the Lord Jesus on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Jenners Pond, West Grove, PA surrounded by family and friends in the loving arms of her husband. She was the wife of William W. Shepherd with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Norristown, PA she was the daughter of the late James E. and Mary Hallowell Stoops. June was a Physical Education Teacher from 1950 – 1958 Oxford Area High School. She was a beloved Field Hockey coach and Girls Basketball coach. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Oxford where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on the Fellowship Committee and was the chair of the Flower Committee. June was also a member of the Oxford Research Club where she managed the Second Season Shop. June enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, camping, reading, flower gardening, knitting and music. Robert F. O’Connor, 75, of Kirkwood, PA, passed away on March 19, 2018. He was the husband of Connie Way O’Connor. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage. Robert was born in West Chester, PA, a son of the late Francis and Mary Knott O’Connor. He had worked as a truck driver, driving for several companies in Lancaster Co. Robert enjoyed going to the mountains, and camping. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 children, Tracy Church (David), Kirkwood, Robert K. O’Connor (Gina), Holtwood, 2 grandchildren, Tyler, Dominique (Noodle), and a sister Alice Reynolds, North East, MD. |
