Lois M. Bair, 90, formerly of Quarryville and York County, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the West Willow Rest Home.
he was the wife of the late LeRoy H. Bair, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2015. Born and raised in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Susan E. (Kuhns) Ebersole. She was a member of Blue Rock Mennonite Church. Kenneth J. Lingo, 73, of Oxford, PA passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of Eileen Lingo with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Born in Delaware County, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret Lingo. He was a long-time resident of West Chester, PA. He retired from PECO after 40 years of service. Kenneth was a huge fan of NASCAR, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing and fishing. Mary Kay Peters, 81, of Quarryville, formerly of Wilmington, DE, was welcomed home by her heavenly Father on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Bruce G. Peters, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Grove City, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Howard Reed Smith and Mary Katherine (Dickey) Smith. Mary Kay was a graduate of Ridgeway High School in Ridgeway, PA, class of 1960. Following high school, she attended Indiana State College for one year, then transferred to the University of Delaware, earning a bachelor’s degree in home economics education in 1964. She was employed as a home economics teacher prior to having children; she then dedicated her life to caring for her family and home. Mary Kay was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She served and faithfully supported her family and others through countless acts of service. When not serving her family and friends, she could be found enjoying the sand and sun of Sea Isle City, New Jersey, playing card games, sewing and crafting, rollerblading, scrapbooking, and square dancing with her beloved husband, Bruce. Keith E. Cushman, 74, of Strasburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Born in Caribou, ME, he was the son of the late Dana and Mary Ruth (Hill) Cushman. He was the loving husband of Judy M. (Dunnett) Cushman for 52 years. Keith grew up on a potato farm in Maine and was a 1970 graduate of New Brunswick Bible Institute. He was an ordained minister having served as pastor of Easton United Baptist Church, Easton, ME; Woodland First Baptist Church, Colby Siding, ME; Dyer Brook Community Church, Dyer Brook, ME; Bristol United Baptist Church, Bristol, NB; So. Portage Baptist Church, Nashwaak Bridge, NB; Winterport Baptist Church, Winterport, ME; Maranatha Riverside Church, Lincoln, ME; and St. Stephens Presbyterian Church, Sunny Corner, NB. After moving to Strasburg, PA, Keith became a member of Grace Baptist Church, Millersville. Ronald L. Althouse, 83, died Tuesday, February 20 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community2/23/2024
Ronald L. Althouse, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the husband of Evora B. Cramer Althouse. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Isaac N. and Genella (Nellie) E. McGuigan Althouse, and graduated from Manheim Township High School. Ronald started his career as an apprentice at Graphic Crafts and then became employed by RR Donnelley and Sons, where he remained until his retirement. Ronald was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Lancaster (where he met his wife). He was an usher, helped with the food bank for many years, and served as a trustee, as well as serving on many other committees. Printing was his passion. He had his own print shop in each home where he resided until his stroke in 2021, and did small jobs for the community. He also, along with his wife, Evora, sold wedding invitations to many local couples. He volunteered for the Heritage Press in Lancaster and was a member of the 918 Printing Club. Mary L. Stoltzfus, 6 month old daughter of Amos S. and Rebecca Lapp Stoltzfus of 3818 Delta Road, Airville, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 at home.
Mary attended the Old Order Amish Church with her parents. Barbara L. Guzejko, age 76, of Quarryville, passed away on February 20, 2024. Barb was born on June 28, 1947 in Bangor, Maine to the late Randolph and Thelma Stevens Marquis. She loved Old Town and Bar Harbor, Maine, where she spent her early childhood. From there she lived all over the world as an Air Force family with time in Japan and Puerto Rico being favorites. In 1966, she met and married Julius Guzejko, a sailor, who was welcomed into their Air Force family. Barb and Butch celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in November. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer, fiancé of Chad Haldeman, and Melissa wife of Brian Eckroth. Barb has six grandchildren; Derek, David, Jack, Karlee, Ryder, and Lauren. She is also survived by two sisters, Cindy Gallant and Mary Marquis. Jean W. Brown, 90, of Nottingham, PA passed away on February 20, 2024 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA. She was the wife of the late Clyde C. Brown with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Millington, MD she was the daughter of the late George Julian, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Redmond Wallace. Jean was employed with the Oxford Area School District, Nottingham School and previously employed with the University of Delaware as a secretary for many years. She was a member of Nottingham Presbyterian Church. Jean enjoyed to knit, crochet and travel. She is survived by four children, Daniel Brown (Mary) of Oxford, Joni Irons (Greg) of Downingtown, Sharon Kennedy (Alan) of Oxford and Kim Eshelman (Andrew) of Lancaster; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren. Robert “Bobby” L. Riley, 70 years, of Quarryville, PA, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 in Hudleston, VA. Born January 31, 1954 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of Anna L. Riley of Colora, MD, and the late Robert Marion Riley. Bobby was proud of his many years as a welder, foreman, and ironworker and was a life-member of the Ironworkers Local No. 451 of Wilmington, DE. He loved working in his yard (not a weed anywhere), feeding his squirrels, and his gun collection. He loved to go shooting, traveling, a good meal, and was known as the mayor of his Tanglewood neighborhood. Bobby is survived by his sons, Jeremy Riley of Quarryville, PA, and Shaun Riley and wife, Necca, of Arizona; their mother, Melissa; one grandchild, Cody of Pittsburg, PA; mother, Anna L. Riley of Colora, MD; and sister, Anita Casteel. Melvin E. Kutz, 94, of Nottingham, entered into rest on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Upper Merion Twp., he was the son of the late Henry and Alice (Enright) Kutz. He was married to the late Jean Marie (Larkin) Kutz for over 69 years at the time of her passing in 2022. Melvin was a truck driver, having driven concrete truck for many years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and had served during the Korean Conflict. Melvin was a devoted family man who enjoyed coaching his children’s teams and being active in their lives. He had also taken his family on extensive camping trips across the United States and Canada. Melvin was also an avid dancer. |
