Mary E. Rineer, 90, of Conestoga View and formerly Willow Street, entered into rest on Thursday, March 28, 2019. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle (Andrews) Leed, Sr. Her husband, Guy M. Rineer, passed away in 2012. Mary worked for the Solanco School District in food service. She loved being around her family and traveling to the cabin in the mountains. Mary also enjoyed baking and playing bingo. Marie A. McIntyre, 65, of Willow Street PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her home with her sister Elizabeth by her side. Born in Wilmington DE, she was daughter of the late Robert and Maude Mills Counts. Marie enjoyed being a big rig truck driver. She was also a certified nurse’s aide. Mary R. U. Sell, 91, of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community and formerly Newtown Square, PA, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Elmer John and Kathryn Ruth (Hoffman) Reinhardt. Her husband, Christie D. Sell, passed away on June 21, 2011. Mary graduated from West Philadelphia High School and went on to earn a BS in Home Economics at Drexel University. She was of the Lutheran faith. She and her late husband loved to travel and RV, and would at times go on the road for six months or longer. Mary was a very artistic person. One of her more recent and prouder accomplishments was helping her daughter design and build her new kitchen. Alona May Roberts, 86, died peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA surrounded by family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Kenneth S. Roberts; son Stephen K. Roberts (Sarah); daughters Glenda M. Reynolds (Charles), Melissa E. Watson (Frank) and Stacey A. Floyd; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her four younger siblings and one granddaughter. Born in Sayre, PA, Alona was the daughter of the late Owen and Mabel Fassett. She graduated from Athens High School in Athens, PA in 1950. In her younger years, Alona loved riding Indian Chief Motorcycles and was an avid bowler. Frederick “Fred” H. Frey, 86, of Quarryville, went to his heavenly home on March 23, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy with his family by his side. Born October 15, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Frederick C and Anna Huber Frey. Born to German immigrants, he was the first generation born in the U.S. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 53 years June Hansen Frey, his children, Fritz Frey (Nancy), Frieda Pfender (Matt), Anna Mârie Barley (Harold), Heidi Cunningham (Walt), 9 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren, and siblings, Anita Barthelson, Adolph “Pete” Frey, Anna Magdalena “Maggie” Luckerath (Hubert), John Frey, and C. William “Willie” Frey (Joan). Fred was preceded in death by siblings Ernst “Ernie” Frey, Siegfried Frey, and Maria Frey. Bonita Faye Huss, 75, formerly of New Providence, died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Conestoga View.
Born in New Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Adeline Doulin Huss. Surviving her are two sisters, Marguerite Barnett of New Providence and Doris Berberian of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Reese, Glenn Reese and Eugene Reese. Charles R. Landis, 86, of Quarryville, PA, passed away March 21, 2019. Charles was born in Harrisburg, PA, a son of the late Morris B. and Ella Snyder Landis. Charles had worked as a mechanic for the former A.L. Herr Brothers, Quarryville. He had proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. An avid model train collector, he was a member of the Toy Train Collectors Club, Strasburg. He also enjoyed collecting Massie Harris tractors. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Quarryville. Robert E. Rothenhoefer, Sr., 75, of Goshen Mill Road, Peach Bottom, PA died at his residence on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. He was the husband of the late Geraldine Emma Culler Rothenhoefer who died March 8, 2009.
Born in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Louis A. and Betty Lee Mitchell Hanzlik. A carpenter by trade, Robert worked in residential building. His enjoyment and main hobby was fishing. Merton Dale Lefever, 79, of Quarryville PA, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was the husband of Anna E. Skilton Lefever. They had celebrated 56 years of marriage. Dale had retired from Armstrong World Industries after 35 years of service. He had proudly served his country in the US Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family at his hunting cabin in Tioga County. Dale was a devoted husband and father. Charles William Dorwart, III, 61, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Sunday, March 17, 2019. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles William Dorwart, II, and Gloria Yvonne (Miller) Frey. Charlie attended Solanco and Lampeter-Strasburg High School where he participated in wrestling and gymnastics. He had been employed by the Buck Company. He enjoyed doing art with markers, crafts, taking walks, fishing, listening to the 70’s, 80’s and Christian music; along with spending time with his family and cat, Christina. He also always looked forward each year to celebrating Halloween and Christmas. |
