Ellen I. Neff, 92, of Quarryville, died Thursday, September 11

    Ellen I. Neff, 92, formerly of Ronks, was welcomed into her heavenly home on Thursday, September 11, 2014. She was the wife of Clarence R. Neff for over 70 years. They resided at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for seven years.
    Ellen was a homemaker who was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed quilting and writing short stories and poems. Ellen also authored and had published a children’s story book.

    Born on October 7, 1965 in the Harford Memorial Hospital, he was the son of Beatrice Gilley Fekete and the late John A. Brown Sr. He was a loving son, brother and uncle and will be missed.

    Kathryn Lorraine Loraw of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was 87.
    Mrs. Loraw worked in manufacturing for Armstrong Corporation and for M&M/Mars.
    She is survived by her son, Daniel Loraw of Holtwood. Her husband, Joseph H. Loraw, is deceased.
    Services and burial will be private.
    Arrangements were made through Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville.

Willis F. 'Fred' Rineer, 87, died on September 4

    Willis F. "Fred" Rineer of the Mennonite Home, Lancaster, died at home on Thursday, September 4, 2014. He was 87.
    Mr. Rineer was born in Green Tree, a son of the late Guy H. and Mary G. Haubert Rineer. He lived in Quarryville before moving to the Mennonite Home.
    During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
    He worked as a track foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad until he retired.
    Mr. Rineer was a member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church.

    Anne E. “Betty” Groff, 83, of 247 River Road, Airville,  passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the loving arms of her husband, Robert B. Groff, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt Joy, PA.  They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
    She was the daughter of the late Robert J. and MaryAnn Hyland Dickson.
Betty was a 1950 graduate of West Catholic High, Philadelphia.

    Robert E. Lewis, 75, of Pequea and formerly Virginia, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 3, 2014.  Born in Hagerstown, MD he was a son of the late Robert and Naomi (Keller) Lewis.
    After graduating high school Bob went on to the University of Maryland and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.  He worked and retired from General Dynamics.  Bob was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Marion, VA where he served on the church council.  He also was a member of the Marion Kiwanis Club.  After retiring he enjoyed repairing and collecting antique radios along with gardening.  Bob built and sailed his own wooden fishing boat.

    Richard R. “Dick” Myers, 84, of Buck Road, Quarryville, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Born in Quarryville, he was a son of the late, J. Fred and Blanche (Groff) Myers. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois J. (Eshleman) Myers.
    Dick retired from the Quarryville Post office. He was a rural mail carrier for over 40 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Quarryville High School.  Dick was class treasurer and enjoyed organizing and attending the class reunions. He served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corp.

    Donald R. Smith of Willow Street died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was 75.
    He was born in Arden, a son of the late Albert and Ruth Hill Smith.
    He had retired from the former Haddad’s Shoe Factory, Lancaster.
    Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, hunting, and always enjoyed “tinkering”.
    He was the husband of Catherine Martz Smith. They had celebrated 53 years of marriage.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children; Vicky Barker, Donna Marie Kuhns, Diana Townsend, William B. Smith, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and siblings; Donna Louthian, Elizabeth Lefever, and William A. Smith.
    Funeral services will be private.

    Glenn E. Murr Jr. of Jamestown Ct., Lancaster, died at home on Friday, August 29, 2014. He was 65.
    Mr. Murr was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Glenn E. Sr. and Mary Cauler Murr.
    He worked as a fiberglass specialit for ACI Composites until he retired. He had worked for Trojan Yacht Co., Lancaster.
    Mr. Murr was an avid outdoorsman and a lifetime member of the Paradise Sportsman's Association.

    Dorothy G. Lancaster of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died at home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was 91.
    Mrs. Lancaster was born in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late James A. and Isabella Green Lysinger. She lived in Willow Grove before moving to the retirement community.
    She was a member of Solanco Bible Church, Quarryville, and a former member of Independent Bible Church of Willow Grove.
