Richard R. “Dick” Myers, 84, of Buck Road, Quarryville, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Born in Quarryville, he was a son of the late, J. Fred and Blanche (Groff) Myers. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lois J. (Eshleman) Myers. Dick retired from the Quarryville Post office. He was a rural mail carrier for over 40 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Quarryville High School. Dick was class treasurer and enjoyed organizing and attending the class reunions. He served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, The Moonlite Cruisers Car Club, and a life-member of the Quarryville Fire Company. He was an avid sports fan and in his earlier years coached pee-wee and midget-midget baseball. He was a lifelong Baltimore Orioles Fan. Another thing Dick enjoyed were the trips to the mountains with his gang.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by a son, Robert E. Myers of Quarryville; a daughter, Mary Ann, wife of Scott Peiffer of Quarryville; and two granddaughters, Tori A. Myers and Marla J. Peiffer. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert “Sock” Myers and a sister, Irene Lugar. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Quarryville Cemetery.
