Iva E. Ream of Conestoga View, Lancaster, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014. She was 88.
Mrs. Ream was born in Paradise, a daughter of the late William P. and Dorothy Mann Axe. She lived in Quarryville before moving to Conestoga View. She worked as a secretary for Beltone Hearing Aid Co., Lancaster. Mrs. Ream was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Quarryville. Russell M. Griest of Peach Bottom died at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was 85.
Mr. Griest was born in Little Britain, a son of the late Veryl and Stella Anderson Griest. He worked for Lukens Steel until he retired. Mr. Griest was an active member of the Eastland Friends Meeting House, where he served as a trustee and a Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Bear Trap Hunting Club. ![]() Lester C. Jamison of North East, Md., died on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was 90. Mr. Jamison was born in Fulton Township, one of 12 children born to Howard and Leta Dawson Jamison. He lived in Little Britain before moving to North East. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He worked for W.L. Temple and later was an independent trucker working out of the Cedar Hill and Maryland Materials stone quarries. He was a skilled mechanic and inspected trucks for Mar-Del Trucking until he was well into his 80s. Eva M. Nolt of Goshen Mill Rd., Peach Bottom, died at home on Monday, June 23, 2014. She was 84.
Mrs. Nolt was a daughter of the late Henry and Martha Martin Weaver. She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church. Gladys Eva Howard of Quarryville died on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was 84.
Mrs. Howard was born in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Milton and Gertrude Hanna Hassel. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. ![]() Robert Morrison Sr. of Conestoga View, Lancaster, died at home on Thursday, June 19, 2014. He was 92. Mr. Morrison was born in Mount Nebo, a son of the late Oscar J. and Mabel E. Weidley Morrison. He lived in New Providence before moving to Conestoga View. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. ![]() John W. Douts of Fairfax, Va., died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Friday, June 13, 2014. He was 67. Mr. Douts was born in Lancaster, a son of the late William and Ida Douts. He lived in Chestnut Level before moving to Virginia. He was a 1965 graduate of Solanco High School. ![]() Helen M. Crouse of Lancaster died at home on Monday, June 16, 2014. She was 83. Mrs. Crouse was born in Smithville, a daughter of the late Walter and Amy Louise Rudy Hoffman. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Crouse had been a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, antiquing reading, and tending her perennial gardens. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church. ![]() Fenton R. Hart of Drumore died at his home on Friday, June 13, 2014. He was 52. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Raymond “Skeeter” and Jean (Rice) Hart of Quarryville. Mr. Hart owned and operated Hart’s Mulch and Landscape Supply. He was also a dealer for T.A. Seeds. In his earlier years Fenton worked for Amstrong Inc. He was an avid boater and he volunteered with the Robert Fulton Fire Company’s River Rescue Team and was also on their annual sale committee. He and his wife Sherri (Minnick) had been together for seven years. |
