Park A. Reinhart, 88, of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community and formerly Kirkwood, entered into rest on Monday, April 27, 2015. Born in Kirkwood he was a son of the late Forest H. and Ida M. (Rice) Reinhart. His wife, Pauline V. (Herr) Reinhart, a daughter Karen R. Asper, brothers Donald and George along with sisters Irene Wanner and Faye Lefever all preceded him in death. Park worked and retired from Edgar M. Herr Company as a milk truck driver. He was a member of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, a life member of International Order of Odd Fellows #544 of Kirkwood and later when it merged with lodge #361 of Strasburg, and also a prior member of Quarryville Rod & Gun Club. In his spare Park enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. Alice Jean (Herr) Mowrer, 91, of Quarryville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior in heaven on Friday, April 24, 2015 and join her husband, Everette G. Mowrer, her daughter Shirley Crandall, brothers Earl Herr, Jr. and Lester Herr along with her parents, Enos Earl and Bernice Elmira (Zander) Herr. Jean was born on August 25, 1923, in Paradise Township. She and her husband, Everette, owned and operated Bartville General Merchandise and offered home delivery. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Quarryville, where she and Everette led the Junior Fellowship for several years. Jean volunteered at the Quarryville Library, delivered Meals on Wheels, enjoyed painting classes, and loved the mountains, the beach and going fishing. Bill “Bubba” Latham, Nottingham, PA, passed away Friday, April 24th, 2015. Bill was a retired truck driver, he loved John Deere and besides his family his favorite thing was mowing the yard which had to be done perfect, his way or no way and tinkering with scrap metal. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margy Adams, he is also survived by his sons, John Holdaway, and wife Alice, Rising Sun, MD, Jimmy Holdaway and wife Amy, Peach Bottom, two daughters; Connie Perger, Edgewood, MD, Kathy Holdaway -Morris, Peach Bottom; grandchildren Eddie Perger, Emaly Perger, Peyton Holdaway, JR Holdaway, Budd Morris, William Holdaway, Cpl Kaitlyn Morris-Gonzalez and husband Jorge and soon to be great grandson Cayden Michael, San Diego California. Andrea (Joel) Hess, Amanda MIlls and husband Greg, Samantha Latham, Michael Latham great grand son, Jaxson, great granddaughter, Adalynn, sister, Ann Mahaffey and husband Larry, Oxford, good friend Mike Peterson, sister in law Joann Weaver, brother in laws, Danny Adams, Orbie Adams, and nephews and nieces. Arlene R. Breuininger of the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community died at home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was 93.
Mrs. Breuininger was born in Paradise, a daughter of the late Howard and Ana Buckwalter Reath. She lived in Cochranville before moving to the retirement community in January, 2009. She was a graduate of Millersville State Teachers' College. She began her teaching career in one-room schools in Lancaster County. She then taught first grade in the Oxford Area School District for more than 20 years until her retirement. Mrs. Breuininger was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Rising Sun, Md., and Bethany Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Nottingham, where she founded the church library and served as the church librarian. She also lead the church's 50th and 60th anniversary committees, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Missionary and Prayer Band. She was active in the community, coordinating the released time program in Oxford and served with the Research Club, Oxford. Lloyd E. “Chuck” Adair, 56, of Lancaster, died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was born In Lancaster, the son of the late Lloyd L. and Betty J. Eckman Adair. Chuck lived under the loving and caring staff of Keystone Human Services for 25 years. He enjoyed his family, the outdoors, and animals. Surviving him are five siblings, Lorraine Seachrist of New Providence, Virginia S. (Harry) Work, Quarryville, Faith M. (Mark) Sawyer of West Grove, Bonnie E. (Jeffrey) Hanna of New Providence, John M. Adair of new Providence; and several nieces and nephews. Cynthia S. Weller of Quarryville died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, following a lengthy illness. She was 59. Mrs. Weller was born in Lancaster, a daughter of Betty Angeline Kreider of Quarryville and the late Henry Kreider. She was co-owner of the family trucking company. Mrs. Weller was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Quarryville. An avid horseback rider, she was also a member of the Valley Lea Riding Club, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the American Paint Horse Association. A member of 4-H, she served as a leader for 12 years. Jean R. Brubaker, 85, of Plainfield Township, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2015, at Old Orchard Health Care Center, Bethlehem Township. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Brubaker with whom she shared 49 years of marriage prior to his death in 1997. Born in Peach Bottom, Lancaster County on January 27, 1932, she was the daughter of the late W. Harry Reed and Lena (Bicknell) Reed. Jean was a graduate of Quarryville High School, class of 1947. Jean held various clerical and secretarial positions in Lancaster County and the Nazareth area after relocating there in 1974. Jean was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church, Holtwood, PA since 1948, were she also taught Sunday school. Jean enjoyed cooking and baking and she showcased her talents at her son’s former tavern, The Pennsylvania Inn. She was an avid Phillies fan, and she loved spending time with her family. Christopher Mark Weaver, 39, of New Danville Pike, Lancaster, PA died unexpectedly in Boston, MA on Friday, April 17, 2015 while representing his employer, Adidas, at the Boston Marathon. He and his wife, Melanie S. Ruhl Weaver celebrated 14 years of marriage in August 2014. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Mark M. and Vivian L. Bechtold Weaver of Lancaster. A 1994 graduate of Penn Manor High school, he also attended Lancaster Bible College. He was employed as a sales lead manager for Adidas and was also self- employed as a sub-contractor in the carpentry field. Chris was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Peach Bottom and had been an active with Boy Scouts of America, Order of Arrow, where he was certified in marksmanship. Edward F. Fritz of Quarryville, Pa., died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was 74.
He was born, September 12, 1940 in Lancaster, a son of the late Edward M. and Janet Kegel Fritz. Mr. Fritz was a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua grade school, Lancaster Catholic High School, and St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. Robert G. Blevins of Quarryville, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Conestoga View. He was 86. Born in Peach Bottom he was the son of the late Verney and Allie (Pennington) Blevins. Mr. Blevins was a carpenter all his life. He was a Korean War veteran and played minor league baseball. He loved going turkey hunting with his sons and friends of the family. He formerly attended High View Church of God. |
