James A. Bonner, 60, of Philadelphia, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at his home. He was the son of Margaret J. (Inkster) Bonner of Quarryville and the late William J. Bonner.
Jim was a professional photographer for several Philadelphia newspapers. He was a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He also enjoyed playing Lacrosse. ![]() Jessie U. Abbot, 96, resident of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Luzerne, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Walter and Chella Maria (Underwood) Abbot. Jessie was a registered nurse and was the director of nursing in Baltimore City Hospitals. She was a former member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Baltimore and was an active member of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church in Quarryville. Jessie enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and painting by numbers. ![]() Betty J. Herr, 91, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Born in Providence Twp., she was the daughter of the late Ross and Catherine (Abel) Henry. Betty worked and retired as a baker and cake decorator at Musser’s Market. She was a member of Clearfield United Methodist Church and a member of Lancaster County Art Association, where she won several awards for her artwork. Along with painting, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening. ![]() Charles “Chuck” L. Rutledge, 33, of Harrisburg, formerly of Peach Bottom, PA, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017. Chuck was born in Lancaster PA, a son of Joanne Muehleisen Rutledge and the late Bobby Rutledge. He enjoyed sports, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Joanne Rutledge, Drumore, daughter, Jade; siblings, Paul Rutledge, Bobby Rutledge, Jr., and Carolyn Lawson. ![]() Alice L. Ressel, 99, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, January 20, 2017. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Milton J. and Maude (Wade) Heidelbaugh. Her husband, Parke A. Ressel died in 2009. Alice or “A” as she was lovingly known was an active member of the New Providence Church of God, the Robert Fulton Chapter #446 Order of Eastern Star and Farm Women #21. She loved fishing and was an avid Phillies fan. Alice worked for CB Tool Co. and the former Frames Lock Works. Clair had retired as a sales representative. He had proudly served in the US Army during the Viet Nam War. He was an avid bass fisherman. Born in Altoona PA, a son of the late Earl W. and Marjorie Miller Helsel. Grace Ann MacIntyre, 84, of Quarryville PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.
She was the widow of Walter W. MacIntyre who passed away in 2012. Grace was born in Philadelphia PA, a daughter of the late Herbert and Mildred Geiger Boardman. She had worked as a bank teller in Darby, PA. ![]() Rose A. Hanks, 88, of Drumore PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. She was the widow of Richard R. Hanks who passed away in 2008. Rose was a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church since 1941, and had been a member of the Women’s Association, Choir, and Ladies Friendship Bible Class. She was also a member of Fulton Grange #66. Born in Drumore PA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Grace Long Ankrum. ![]() Kenneth E. Smith, 79, of Strasburg PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy Rigby Smith. They had celebrated 58 years of marriage. Ken had retired as a Signalman for the PA Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, and Conrail after 42 years of service. Born in Seaford DE, a son of the late John and Catherine Bowden Smith. He was a 1956 graduate of Seaford High School. Edward Carl Tacelosky, 83, of Pequea, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Shenadoah, PA, he was the son of Edward C. and Agnes (Serakas) Tacelosky. He was married to the late Patricia Anne (Kelly). Edward had been a self-employed salesman. He was a Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed gardening and animals. |
