Mary Roland Bishop passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on June 23, 2024. Born on August 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Jordan and Alice Reyburn. Mary was born and raised on the Reyburn Farm in upper Oxford township. She was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church in Russellville. Mary was a talented seamstress and worked at the Tidy Sewing Factory. She was a member of the Society of Farm Women of Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of 7 siblings and grew up on the family farm. She did beautiful cross stitchand quilting. Her memory will live on in the personalized baby blankets and table runners she created and gave to family members and friends. Sara F. Hannum, 91, of Peach Bottom, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Born in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Frances (Evans) Funderwhite. She had celebrated over 59 years of marriage with Paul Hannum at the time of his passing in 2011. While living in Chester County, Sara earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from West Chester University and taught various grades for 15 years. After moving to Lancaster County, she worked as an American Red Cross instructor for over 25 years, retiring when she was eighty. Robert Leroy Rowe, Sr., 90, of Lancaster, passed on to join his loving wife on Sunday, June 23, 2024. He was the husband of the late Doris J. (Druck) Rowe. Born in Little Britain Twp., he was the son of the late Paul and Ethel (Pickel) Rowe and was one of 12 children. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served on a Landing Ship Tank during the Korean War. He retired as a General Heating Foreman from Lukens Steel in Coatesville, where he was employed for 30 years. Robert was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church in Peach Bottom. Robert L. Kauffman, Jr., 81, of Quarryville, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Robert L. Sr., and Audrey (Bryson) Kauffman. He is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Marcia Kauffman; two siblings, Joyce Dauch of Strasburg and Dwight, husband of Judy Kauffman of Oxford. Bob is also survived by three daughters: Bethany, wife of Michael Raub of Quarryville; Karen, wife of Travis McComsey of Peach Bottom; and Sandra, wife of Stephen Brower of Pottstown; and their mother, Susan Blevins of Paradise. In addition, Bob is survived by Marcia’s children: Jeffrey, husband of Elizabeth Emmert of Salisbury, MD; and Sherilyn, wife of Philip Johnson of Quarryville. Dorothy Kay Bueche, 85, of Willow Street, formerly of Audubon, Montgomery County, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 17, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late James Frank Bueche, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2022. Born in Hamilton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Clifford C. and Annabel (Hartman) Lauderman. ay was a graduate of Norwood High School, class of 1956, and she attended Villanova University. She served as a customer service manager for Compu Forms Controls. Kay was a member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church and a former member of Port Kennedy Presbyterian Church, where she served as Clerk of Session for 10 years. On June 17, 2024, Preston M. Mowery, 21 of Gordonville, met Jesus face to face too soon for his earthly family, but the right time in God’s plan – a plan we trust – even though we surely cannot understand it in this life. Preston was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on July 2, 2002 son of Kimberly A. (Gildersleeve) Mowery of Intercourse and the late Dennis R. Mowery. He was reborn July 7, 2019 becoming a son of The Most High God. Preston was a valued employee at Pelet Welding Inc. of Coatesville. He took pride in his work with an attention to detail second to none. In his personal life, Preston loved to be with people - whether working or playing. He could be counted on to help with any project – and was always ready to play games of all kinds - board, card, and video. Even as a young boy he was full of compassion for others - people and animals. He loved his family and was loyal to those who truly knew him best and his “Preston hugs” will be deeply missed. Patricia (Patty) Ann Peterson Wagner, 75, of Cochranville PA, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia PA. She was the wife of the late Robert D Wagner, III, who passed away May 20, 2024. Born in Erwin, TN, she was the daughter of the late Hobert and Ethel Peterson. She retired from Chester County Hospital after working there for over 20 years. Patty was a devoted wife, mother, mom-mom, great grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her two cats, her flower gardens, chatting on the phone with family and friends, having lunch with friends, family dinners, shopping and especially buying gifts for others. She had a very giving and generous heart. She was a member of Brush Arbor Gospel Ministries in Elkton, MD. Jennifer Carlin Weaver, 65, of Kirkwood, entered into rest peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Chester County Hospital. Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of Richard and Janet (McDonald) Carlin of Oxford. She was the loving wife of Edward Weaver for 42 years. Jennifer was a graduate of Unionville-Chadds Ford High School. She was employed as an equine veterinary technician for the Cecil Veterinary Clinic. Her love of horses started in childhood and became a life-long passion. In addition to horses, Jennifer had a very deep and special connection to nature. She propagated plants, created beautiful gardens and cultivated rare orchids in her home. Jennifer also raised dogs, birds, and tropical fish, oftentimes competing in shows. Urbana Mae Warfel, 89, of West Willow, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Glenn W. Warfel, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2021. Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Urbana (Sentiman) Meckley. Mae first found employment with the Hubley Toy Company. Over the years she raised her family and worked for Anderson Pretzel and she worked in the Bakery and Meat Departments of Weis Markets. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Mae was known for having a great sense of humor, having fun, and she was the life of every party. She was a member of Clearfield United Methodist Church. On June 7th, Colton Trevor Ward, affectionately called, "Boogie," of Nottingham, Pa, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 29. He was born on April 2, 1995 to Todd Ward and the late Sandy Williams Ward. Colton was a graduate of Oxford Area High School. On July 1st, 2017 Colton married the love of his life. During their 10 years together, they raised two daughters. There wasn’t anything he cherished more than his Pais and Chlo. It wouldn’t matter what he was working on or where he was, one of his girls would be by his side. Colton was employed at R.T. Price as a heavy equipment operator. He was a very hard worker, if he wasn’t running equipment or a truck, he was picking up a shovel an helping out where needed. He worked alongside his brother every day and treasured their time together, antics an all. Colton was a master of many trades, there wasn’t anything he wasn’t able to fix. In recent years he took his passion for farming and started his business known as Ward Ag. |
