David Lee Lefever, age 54 of Wrightsville, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Lloyd M. & Ellen McCaulley Lefever. He loved working on cars and was there to help anyone that needed help down to his last dollar. Surviving are daughters Amanda wife of Alexander Maldonado of Willow Street, and Jazman Lefever, of Columbia, 11 Siblings: Lloyd, Shirley, Judy, Jeffery, Millie, Pattie, Esther, Donald, Robert, Richard and Ellen. Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Keohane, age 72, of New Providence, PA passed away at his home on Saturday September 24, 2022; he was married to Patricia Gardner Keohane. Larry was born in Philadelphia, PA son of the late Lawrence J. and Rita Palumbo Keohane. Surviving are three children: John husband of Lori Reinhart Keohane, Lori wife of Kevin Forry and Amy, wife of Jason Shertzer, 6 grandchildren: Ethan and Aaron Keohane, Joshua and Jacalyn Hiltz and Hayley and Jordan Kauffman, one sister: Rosemarie, husband of Thomas Hoopes, TX, two sisters-in-law: Marilyn, wife of the late Paul Wojciechowski and Joan, wife of Michael Klein, FL and several nieces and nephews. Jane Douts Tomlinson, 99, of Millersville, formerly of Pequea, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 while under the care of Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was the loving wife of the late Willard G. “Tubby” Tomlinson, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2007. Born in Martic Township, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Mary (Walton) Douts. Living until the age of 99 gave Jane the benefit of not only having relationships with her grandchildren, she was also blessed to build relationships with her great-grandchildren, which she treasured. Over the years she also enjoyed being involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews. Jane was a faithful life-long member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church. Rhoda H. Hurley, 92, of Ronks, passed away at Emerald Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the loving wife of the late Gordon F. Hurley, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2005. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Lettie (Kauffman) Herr. Rhoda was a graduate of the Southern Lancaster County Joint High School, class of 1949. For many years she worked in farming, then went on to work for Hamilton Watch, a sewing factory, and mostly recently for Burger King. Rhoda was a talented musician, playing piano, guitar, and accordion. She also had a passion for riding motorcycle. She rode until she was 75 and continued to ride as a passenger until she was 87. During her lifetime she always had a dog and she enjoyed their companionship. Naomi S. Zook, age 70 of 20 Buck Run Road, Christiana, PA, passed away at the York Hospital on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
She was the wife of Reuben B. Zook. She was born in Elverson, daughter of the late Samuel U. & Rebecca Stoltzfus Fisher. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Thomas Ralph Blackburn, 96, of Oxford, PA passed away on Saturday September 24, 2022 at home. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” Sumner Blackburn with whom he shared 72 years of marriage. Born in Oval, NC he was the son of the late Donald and Alsey Phillips Blackburn. After graduating from Oxford High School in 1944, he worked on the family dairy farm until October 1952 when he left farming to work for Chrysler Corporation. He was a hardworking man who retired from Chrysler in 1988 after 36 years of service. After retirement, Ralph and Peg enjoyed traveling and visiting with their family, and especially on Bob Neff Tours where they enjoyed meeting new people and making friends. He looked forward to family beach vacations, and their winter trips in Florida. His hobbies included making wooden crafts and caning chairs and repairing old ones. People would travel for hours to have Ralph either fix or replace their chairs for them. LaVera “Ellie” Trout Groff, age 98, formerly of Bart, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was married for 56 years to the late Melvin L. Groff who passed away on January 29, 2002. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Sarah Trout Trout. Janet Marie Heidelbaugh, 81, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, September 23, 2022, surrounded by her family at home. She was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Holaman) Fuller and the loving wife of the late Milton J. Heidelbaugh who passed on May 15, 2000. Janet had worked in the kitchen at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for many years. She was a member of Providence Church and was an active volunteer at New Hope Community Closet and Solanco Neighborhood Ministries. She enjoyed mowing her yard, flower gardening and crocheting. Rebecca Lea Johnson of Faith Friendship Villa of Mountville, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 22, 2022, at the age of 74 of metastatic breast cancer. Rebecca graduated from Solanco High School, Quarryville, and worked for Hewlett Packard and Agilent. Rebecca was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy Mae Johnson and Carl M. Johnson, Sr. of Quarryville, and brother-in-law John F. Hershey. She is survived by siblings: Carl Johnson Jr. and wife Lorene of Lancaster, Carolyn Hershey of Quarryville, Mary Anna Page of Edenton, North Carolina, and Lois Higgins of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at Wesley Church Cemetery, 7 Wesley Road Quarryville on Saturday, October 1st at 2 P.M. Pastor Blake Deibler will be officiating. Natalie Jo Absher, 54, of Conowingo, MD, formerly of Holtwood, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, with family by her side. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, she was the daughter of John Hughes, of Conowingo, and the late Nancy (Taylor) Hughes. Natalie was a graduate of Perryville High School, class of 1986. Over the years she received training for CNA and phlebotomy, as she worked as a health care provider. |
