 Janet Kubik, 67, of New Providence, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at her home. Born in Wallington, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Jennie (Kester) Kubik.
Janet enjoyed caring for residents as a CNA at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, working there for over 20 years. She is survived by a long-time companion, Kenneth Washington, of New Providence; children, Hope Kubik, of Blue Ball, Ed Davis, and wife Shirley, of Quarryville, Marie Kubik, of Newark, NJ, and Eric Kubik, of Blue Ball; sister, Susan Kubik Hughes, of Lisbon, NY; brothers, Blaise Kubik, of Sussex, NJ, and Michael Kubik, and wife Rennie, of Texas.  Carl J. Vaughan Sr., 79, of Nottingham PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
He was the husband of Elsie Rupert Vaughan. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage. Carl was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid hot rod enthusiast. He also enjoyed being an Amish taxi driver. Spending time with his family was very important to him. Carl was also a member of Elkton Moose Lodge # 851.  Harry E. Wade, of Refton passed away on May 22, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital, 8 days short of his 75th birthday.
Born in Providence Township, he was the son of the late Richard B. and Bertha V. Eager Wade. He was a 1962 graduate of Solanco High School. He had been employed for more than 30 years for Penn DOT as an equipment operator. Active in the Refton Fire Department, he had served as assistant chief for many years. Harry was a lifetime and active member of the Lancaster County Sportsmans Association in Mt. Nebo. Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson Leighton Lamborn, 82, Berks County, died at home, Monday, May 275/30/2019
 Elizabeth “Betty” Jackson Leighton Lamborn, age 81, of Cumru Township, Berks County, passed away at her home on Monday, May 27, 2019.
She was born in Coatesville, daughter of the late William H. Sr. & Isabel Jackson Leighton. She started dating H. Taylor Lamborn in 1956 and they celebrated 55 years of marriage on July 6th of last year. She was a member of Reading Friends Meeting (Quaker), where she served as librarian, hospitality clerk, auditor, and in other capacities. She graduated from the former Christiana High School class of 1955, Scott High School class of 1956, Millersville University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Library Science and Mathematics, and RACC in 1982 with an Associate's Degree in computer science.  Wilbur W. Bucher, “Bill”, 93, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday night, May 23, 2019, at the Mennonite Home. Bill was the son of the late Reverend Rufus P. and Naomi (White) Bucher of Mechanic Grove.
He is survived by his wife Annette (Wagaman) Bucher whom he married in June of 1948. Bill graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1950. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II and later during the Korean Conflict.  Charles E. “Bill” Aukamp, 95, of New Providence, entered into rest on Saturday, May 25, 2019. Born in Quarryville, he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Clara F. (Groff) Aukamp. He was married to the late Pauline M. (Irvin) Aukamp, who passed away on January 12, 2013.
Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Bronze Star Medal recipient and drove for the famed Red Ball Express, a trucking convoy that supplied allied forces during WWII. He was a life-member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church and had worked as a journeyman carpenter for most of his life.  Louise entered this world during a winter snowstorm and left it to return to God on a warm spring morning. She was born February 9, 1922 to the late John J. and Mabel (Whiteman) Reynolds in Sylmar, PA. At age 7, she moved with her parents to the farm near Nottingham overlooking “The Barrens” (now Nottingham County Park), where she spent the rest of her life and raised her own family.
She graduated from Oxford High School, class of 1940 and attended classes at West Chester Teachers College until her father died and it became necessary for her to support her mother and sister. Louise worked in the office of Conard-Pyle, West Grove, PA until her marriage on Easter Sunday 1944 to Horace W. Witman. Later when her children were in school, she returned to work as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, Nottingham branch, retiring in 1992.  James A. Rineer, 86, of Quarryville, entered into rest on May 18, 2019.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Chester and Mary (Hoover) Rineer. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Jim or “Ranger” as he was lovingly known by his co-workers, worked as a pipe fitter for Armstrong World Industries, retiring in 1992. Following retirement Jim’s smiling face could be seen around Quarryville and helping out at Clean Enterprises Car Wash. Jim enjoyed going to the horse races, playing pool, and shuffle board, shooting darts, socializing with friends, and mowing on his riding mower. He was a member of Post #603 American Legion.  Tasha N. (Groff) Bruda, 38, of Kirkwood, entered into rest on May 20, 2019, at her home.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Troy J. and Teresa A. (Greer) Groff. Following graduation from Solanco High School, she worked at several salons and was last employed at the Hair Cuttery in Gap. Tasha loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. She was a member of the Solanco Sportsman’s Assoc. and was an avid shooter.  Jacob E. Frank, 55, New Providence, PA, died on May 18, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Lancaster, PA, a son of the late Jacob Elwood and Anne Morrison Frank. Jacob had been employed as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with his family, driving, and gardening. He is survived by 2 sons, Dean Frank, Conestoga, PA, Owen Frank, Holtwood, PA, and their mother, Lynn Cole Frank of Holtwood, 5 grandchildren, and a step daughter, Amanda Willard. |
