Ronald Eugene Masters, 89, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA. He was the husband of the late Deborah Chamberlain Masters with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Chicago, Il, he was the son of the late Eugene and Alice Zimmerman Masters. Ronald was employed as an Orthopedic Surgeon for over 50 years. He received his Doctorate degree from Northwestern University Medical School and worked at Lutheran General Hospital, Chicago, IL. He also volunteered at Rainbow Hospice, Chicago, IL. Ronald was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed sailing, kayaking, photography and especially spending time with his friends and grandchildren. Karen S. Cooper, 68, of Holtwood, PA passed away peacefully at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, January 28, 2024. She was the wife of Daniel R. Cooper. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Clayton L. and Joyce E. Reinfried Frackman. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg where she had been employed as the church secretary and from where she retired. She previously was employed by Gingrich and Smith Law Firm. Karen enjoyed quilting, baking, reading books, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Darlene B. Fragale, 86, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice (McDonald) McAlarney. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene C. “Geno” Fragale who passed in 2018. Darlene owned and operated her own beauty salon in Kennett Square for many years. She enjoyed ceramics and had also been a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Quarryville. Richard C. Winchester, 87, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at home. He was the husband of Constance Cross Winchester whom he married in 1958. Born on Nov. 12 1936, Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Theodore C. and Mabel Smiley Winchester. Richard was a graduate of Central High School, Philadelphia class of 1953, he received a BA with honors in History from Ursinus College class of 1957 and his Ph.D. in History from the University of Rochester class of 1966. He was employed with Lincoln University as a Professor, Chairman of the Department of History and for over six years served as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Richard retired in 2000 after 39 years of services. He was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church and in 1971 became an Elder and Commissioner to General Assembly. Mae H. Mussmon, 97, of Millersville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was the wife of the late Rev. Robert S. Mussmon who passed away on January 1, 2014. Born in Gwynedd Valley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard I. and Edla Brendle Hoisington. Mae was a long-standing member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. As a young woman, she worked as a domestic for the James Robinson family of Crebilly Farm in West Chester. She was actively involved in supporting her husband's pastoral and evangelistic ministry. Helen I. Williams, 98, formerly of Stewartstown, Pa. passed away on January 24, 2024 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, Quarryville, Pa. She was the wife of the late Maurice H Williams. Born in Hellam, PA on August 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Martha Emenheiser) Grimm. After graduating from Hellam High School, she married and dedicated her time to raising her three daughters. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, playing the piano, traveling with her husband on trips with Lions International, and spending time with her family. For 20 years she worked beside her husband and daughters in their family-owned grocery store, Wiley's Food Market, Stewartstown, Pa. A longtime member of Centre Presbyterian Church, New Park, PA. She taught Sunday School and Bible School and was active in Women's Circle and helping with banquets. John T. Whiteside, Sr. age 87, formerly of Christiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. Mendenhall Whiteside for 54 years before her passing on June 24, 2011. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Norman and Esther Berkey Whiteside. He was a member of the former Colerain Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and helped manage the cemetery. He was a Past Master and a Grand Master for the former Washington Lodge #156. Denise T. Snider, age 71 of Peach Bottom, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. She was the wife of Charles F. Snider. She was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts daughter of the late Robert F. Sr. and Margaret Gross McCarthy. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, going out to eat and loved her dog Jo-Jo. Virginia G. Walstrum, 98, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Born in Pigeonroost, NC, she was a daughter of the late Bunice and Essie (Barnett) Gouge. She was the loving wife of the late Walter A. Walstrum who passed in 2003. Virginia was a homemaker and a long-time member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark, where she was active in the Women’s Ministry. Virginia is survived by a son, Dennis (Nora) Walstrum of Lewes, DE and Sharon (Roger) Jamieson of West Grove, PA. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. |
