Carla Dawn Weaver, 67, of Oxford, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at home.
She was the wife of the late Sidney R. Weaver. Born in Kingston, PA she was the daughter of the late Carl and June Smith Kishbaugh. Carla enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandson. She is survived by two sons, Tim A. Weaver (Sara) of Nottingham and Tom R. Weaver of Nottingham; one daughter, Tami A. Sheets (Jeff) of Oxford; one grandson, Camden Weaver; and one brother, Preston Whitesell (Carol) of Hatfield. Wayne F. Rice of Oxford, 83 passed away quietly at his home on Monday, August 28, 2017. By the blessing of our Lord he will join his wife of 43 years Doris K. Rice who left us in June of 2013. Originally from Quarryville Pa., he is the son of Forrest and Ruth Rice of Greentree, PA. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Jeffery R. Hoffer, and will be cherished and remembered by his 3 sons David Hoffer, James Hoffer, and Thomas Rice of Lititz. His memory will also be carried forward through his 3 daughters-in-law Jody Hoffer, Karen Hoffer, and Yvonne Rice, along with his 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Dorothy S. Zug, 98, formerly of Peach Bottom, entered into rest on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in West Chester, she was a daughter of the late Chester A. and Mary (Hughes) Supplee. She was married to the late Edd W. Zug, Jr. who died in 1997. As a homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed gardening and was active on the family farm in Peach Bottom until she was 93 years old. She was a 4-H leader and had been a volunteer at the Quarryville Library. She was the oldest member of the Goshen Grange, having been a member for 82 years. E. Lucille Adams, 83, of New Providence, PA, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was the widow of the late Paul M. Adams. Born in Fulton Twp. PA, Lucille was a daughter of the late William and Bertha Caldwell Sheets. She had retired as a clerical worker for the Lancaster County Board of Assistance. Lucille enjoyed baking, gardening, and quilting. She is survived by 8 children; Dan Adams (Lena), Quarryville, Pete Adams (Diane), Lancaster, Tom Adams (Brenda), New Providence, Bill Adams (Teri), Quarryville, Paula Fisher (Jack), Sumter, SC, Phil Adams, Aberdeen, MD, Neal Adams (Lucinda), North East , MD, Mike Adams (Marsha), Gassaway, WV, many grand and great grandchildren and her brother James Sheets (Vivian), Conowingo, MD.. Margaret M. Everhart, 79, of Quarryville, PA when to be with her Lord on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was the widow of Jon C. Everhart, Sr. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Kathryn M. Zander Hohenwater. Margaret had previously been employed by Millersville University in the food service department. She was a member of Timberline Church, Strasburg, PA. Her hobbies included reading, playing the piano, sewing and crocheting. Douglas L. Rineer, 54, of Willow Street, entered into rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Born in Lancaster Co., he was a son of Mary Elizabeth (Leed) Rineer of Willow Street and the late Guy M. Rineer. Doug had been employed by Rock & Metal Systems, Inc. He enjoyed rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and spending time with his granddaughter, Serenity. In addition to his mother, he is survived by 2 sons, Joseph and Timothy Rineer, of Quarryville; a daughter, Sarah Germain, of Mt. Joy; 6 grandchildren; and siblings, James R., husband of Becky Rineer, of Holtwood, Linda K., wife of William Jackson, of Christiana, Debra J., wife of Robert McMullen, of Quarryville, and Michael D., husband of Jody Rineer, of Peach Bottom. Charlesie E. Coates, 84, of Nottingham PA, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017. She was the widow of the late Howard Coates who passed away in 1989.
Born in Wilmington DE, Charlesie was a daughter of the late Charles and Verna Lynch Hawley. Charlesie had graduated from Goldie Beacom Business School. Following graduation, she operated dance schools in Wilmington, DE, Oxford, PA, and Rising Sun, MD. Charlesie had been the tax collector for Little Britain Twp. for more than 20 years. She was also active in the 4H sewing club. Timothy J. Kraynak, 49, of Peach Bottom, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Hospice and Community Care. He was born in Hubbard, Ohio and is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years, Aliza (Tricoche) Kraynak. Tim graduated from Philadelphia College of the Bible and went on to earn his PhD from Lancaster Bible College. Tim served as pastor at Berks Bible Church in Shillington, PA. Tim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also served as a chaplain in the Army National Guard. He valued his family and gave his life to serving his family and the church. In addition to his wife, Tim is survived by 4 children: Jonathan, Eliyah, Gabriella, and Danielle. Emma Kathleen (Ashley) McClure, 88, formerly of Holtwood, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, in Drumore on August 17, 2017. Born in Rugby, VA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Barbara (Wyatt) Ashley.
She was married to the late Worth McClure for 62 years when he passed away in March of 2011. Kathleen and Worth were members of the Chapel Baptist Church in Lansing, North Carolina and she was also baptized at Colerain Baptist Church. She worked at a Woolen Mill in Virginia before moving to Southern Lancaster County in 1948. She was a homemaker, farm wife and store clerk at Liberty Square Store from 1960-1963. Larry W. Groff, 69, of Willow Street PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was the husband of Marla R. Pressler Groff. They had celebrated 44 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster PA, Larry was a son of the late Maurice and Theda Myers Groff. A graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, and Penn State University, Larry was an accomplished musician. He was active in the Lampeter Strasburg Community Band, Malta Band, and the Red Rose Band, playing the saxophone. While at Penn State, he played in the Blue Band, and played in the Orange Bowl. He had proudly served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Viet Nam War. |
