Charles J. Lefever, Jr. age, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Landis Homes. He was the husband of the late Marlene L. Amway Lefever who died December 14, 2020. Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Marian K. Mellinger Lefever, Sr. Charlie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, where he served as a deacon, trustee, and elder. He also served on several church mission trips. He had been employed as a quality control supervisor for the former Ford New Holland, retiring after 37 years of service. A Free and Accepted Mason, he was a member of Ephrata Lodge #665. In earlier years he was a member of Paradise-Leaman Place Fire Company where he served as secretary and a member of Lafayette Fire Company where he served as treasurer. He also volunteered with East Lampeter Township Ambulance Association. Charles Douglas "Doug" Heisler, age 52 of Peach Bottom, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was the husband of Lisa Vanderslice Heisler with whom he celebrated 29 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles Enos, Jr. and Verna G. Smoker Heisler. He was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren. He graduated from Solanco High School in 1989 and worked as a truck driver, owning and operating Heisler Transportation for many years. Doug loved hunting, fishing, and trucks. Perry Lee Griest, 65, of Nottingham, entered into rest on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Clarence L. and Edith E. (Browning) Griest. Perry had been a truck driver for Pine View Trucking in Nottingham for over 18 years. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing basketball, and being outdoors. He will be missed by his goat, Bubba J. and his pit bull, Diesel. Perry is survived by a son, Joshua C., husband of Carrie Greist of Nottingham, his companion Donna Burns of Nottingham and a sister, Yvonne Reynolds of Peach Bottom. Diane E. Musselman, age 84 of Strasburg, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023. She was the wife of the late Dallas F. Musselman. Diane was born in Lancaster daughter to the late Clarence and Eleanor Mummau Schaeffer. She was of Christian faith. She enjoyed Flower gardening, boating, traveling in her RV, and going to the beach. She is survived by 2 daughters: Donna Musselman of Holtwood, Denise Jennings of New Providence, a grandson, Shawn Stauffer, and a sister Dorothy. She was preceded in death by a sister Carol. Nancy Ann Hassel, 80, of Holtwood, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her home. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Phyllis (Herr) Young. She was the loving wife of the late Gerald Wayne Hassel for 49 years at the time of his passing on July 8, 2023. Nancy retired from the former Hamilton Watch Co. in 1998 after 35 years of employment. She enjoyed getaways to the beach and the mountains and also enjoyed going to public auctions and trips to the casino. Karl F. Karl F. Schubert, 82, of Kirkwood, PA passed away at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He and his wife Judith Miller Schubert celebrated 60 years of marriage in May. Born in New York City, he was the son of his late mother Keturah Sellers Schubert and late stepfather Herbert Clavier. Karl was a self-employed welder. He was a member of Oxford Lodge #353 Free and Accepted Masons and the NRA. A proud veteran, Karl served in the US Marine Corp where he attained the rank of Corporal during the Vietnam War. Scott S. Simpson, age 67 of Mountville, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. He was born in Wilmington, DE, the son of the late Jack and Elizabeth Pauli Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Simpson, 2 step sons: Matthew Clower of Phoenix, AZ, David, husband of Susan, Clower of Gap, and 2 step grandchildren. Scott, always a jokester ended nearly every conversation with a quick quip. And Scott enjoyed people, especially if those people had a delicious dish in hand. He enjoyed Chinese culture and made a variety of Chinese friends with whom he sought to share the love of Jesus. Marie A. Sperling, 82, formerly of Mountville, passed away on November 15, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Arthur W. Swinehart and the late Della K. Dickel. Marie was the wife of the late John W. Sperling, who passed away in 1999. Marie began her career working her family’s business, the Ponderosa Restaurant. She then went to work in grocery stores performing food preparation, first for Willow Valley and most recently for Stauffers of Kissel Hill, until her retirement. Marie was a proud mother and grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with them, and would do anything for them. To those that knew her, Marie was very kind and giving, and she was a gentle soul. Anna E. Ross, 94, of Quarryville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in Lancaster, PA. She was the wife of the late Harold A. Ross who passed away in 2020. Born in Lancaster County she was the daughter of the late B. Roy and Elizabeth R. Shaubach Witmer. Anna worked as a seamstress for Tidy Kins Sewing and was a member of the Wakefield Bible Church in Peach Bottom. She is survived by a son, Harold R. Ross, husband of Susan of Quarryville, five grandchildren; Jenny, Julie, Steven, Emily, and Andy, nine great grandchildren; Connor, Ben, Marly, Steven Jr., Cameron, Lena, Avrie, Olivia and Mackenzie. Rachel Arlene Risser, 90, of Washington Boro, PA died at her residence on Saturday, November 11, 2023 following a short time under hospice care. She was the wife of the late Samuel Hernley Risser. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace Snyder Bauman. A homemaker, Rachel enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and playing games. She loved her family dearly along with their big family gatherings. She was a member of Living Light Mennonite Church, Washington Boro. |
