Marie A. Sperling, 82, formerly of Mountville died Wednesday, November 15

    Marie A. Sperling, 82, formerly of Mountville, passed away on November 15, 2023.
    She was the daughter of the late Arthur W. Swinehart and the late Della K. Dickel.
    Marie was the wife of the late John W. Sperling, who passed away in 1999.
    Marie began her career working her family’s business, the Ponderosa Restaurant. She then went to work in grocery stores performing food preparation, first for Willow Valley and most recently for Stauffers of Kissel Hill, until her retirement.
    Marie was a proud mother and grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with them, and would do anything for them. To those that knew her, Marie was very kind and giving, and she was a gentle soul.

    She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Broadwater, wife of David, of New Providence, and Tracy Riley, of Ocean City, Maryland; brother, Ed Swinehart, husband of Eileen, of Quarryville; sisters, Sharon Swinehart Pannell, wife of Frank, of New Providence, and Darlene Zittle, of Maryland. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry E. Lefever, and her brothers, Arthur “Sonny” Swinehart, Jr., and Fred Swinehart.
    As per Marie’s wishes, services and interment will be private.
