Joseph L. Leombrone, 78, of Oxford passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of the late Louise M. Rosati Leombrone. Born in Washington, DC, he was one of six children of the late Joseph P. and Catherine Topar Leombrone. He is survived by one son, Joseph A. Leombrone; one daughter, Robin I. Leombrone; one grandson, Gavin J. Alber; and three siblings, Isabelle Leombrone, Marlene Austin and Camille Saltzgueber. Edith V. Tindall, 70, of Drumore, passed away at home, Friday, April 19, 2024. Born in Dover Plains, NY, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Virginia (Silvernail) Rhodes. Edith attended Dover Plains High School and then started her family in New York before moving to Pennsylvania. Edith worked for many years as a home health caregiver for Home Helpers. Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel, visiting some of her favorite places such as Key West and Alaska. In her younger days she loved dancing in the living room with her children, her sister and niece. Those days were talked about often as they were some of her favorite memories. Dr. Barbara M. “Barb” Jones, 82, of Quarryville, departed this life on Friday, April 19, 2024. She was the wife of the late Owen L. Jones, Sr., with whom she shared 21 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1988. Born in Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Donald Frank Siver, Sr., and the late Margaret Lucy (Clarke) Siver-Lashway. Barb was a graduate of Kemper Hall in Kenosha, WI, class of 1959. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Ripon College in 1963, followed by attending Temple University, where she earned master’s and doctorate degrees. Barb made a career in the field of education, serving in roles of counselor, teacher, and supervisor. Following her retirement, she was employed as a receptionist in senior living settings. Sally M. Stees, age 83, passed away at the home of her son on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was the wife of the late John Peter Stees, who passed away on December 2, 2022. She was born in Kansas City, MO, daughter of the late Harry & Jane Chiles McFarland. In the past she had worked as a dog groomer and massage therapist. She loved animals. Surviving are 2 sons: Peter Hutchinson Stees of Atglen, Andrew Clinton husband of Sara Smith Stees of Havre de Grace, MD, 3 grandchildren, 2 siblings: Judy wife of Bob Adams of Lincoln, MA and Bill husband of Sharon McFarland of Pottstown, PA. Donald G. Herr, 86, of Quarryville passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. Born in Lancaster, he was the only child of Grable S. and Martha B. (Herr) Herr. He was the loving husband of Doris (Landis) Herr for 63 years. Don graduated from Solanco High School in 1955 and went on to farm for most of his life. He retired from the family-owned trucking business, Edgar M. Herr, Inc. He was a member of Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church, where he had been a life-long member. Don had served on the Solanco School Board and the Black Rock Retreat Board of Directors. Annie Violet Martin, 70, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. and Dorothea (Geibe) Martin. Annie attended Solanco High School and was known as a good friend who would often help others with their school work. She loved cats, trips to the beach, classic movies, and spending time with friends and family. Elaine B. Chambers, 76, of Cochranville, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Christiana Accent Care Hospice, Newark, DE. She was the longtime companion of Charles M. Blevins, Sr. with whom she shared over 30 years. She is survived by her companion, Charles M. Blevins, Sr. and his son, Charles M. Blevins, Jr.; her daughter, Barbara E. Stanton (Fouad Kiamilev), grandson Dylan Ridge Stanton; brother, James Fulton (Ruth); niece, Donna Barone; nephews, Jim Nathlar, Jason Fulton, and Joshua Fulton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Irene Nathlar and brother-in-law, Vincent Francis Nathlar. Born in Chadds Ford, PA she was the daughter of the late James Calvin and Irene Catherine Lawrence Fulton. Elaine attended Kennett and Avon Grove High Schools. Elaine went on to pursue accounting at Goldey-Beacom College of Business. She owned and operated her cleaning business for over 40 years. Often her clients became friends; some long-time friendships as well were appreciated. Elvin L. Beiler, 88, of Kinzers died at his residence on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 after a brief illness. Born in Leacock Township, he was the son of the late Christian E. and Rachel S. Lapp Beiler. He was married 68 years on January 14th to the love of his life, Ruth B. Zook Beiler. Surviving in addition to his wife are six children, Clair E, husband of Verna Glick Beiler, Paradise; Loretta J. wife of Eugene Smucker, New Holland; Robert L. husband of Linda Brubaker Beiler, Gap; Lyndon S. husband of Evonne Groff Beiler, Rexville, NY; Galen D. husband of Marcella Hess Beiler, Kinzers; Delbert B. husband of Kristi Nissley Beiler, Millersville; 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roman, husband of Fannie Stoltzfus Beiler, Paradise, four sisters, Minerva Beiler Kauffman, Washington County, Mary wife of David King, Mifflinburg, Erma Beiler Zook, Gap, Alta Beiler, Ronks, a brother-in-law, Floyd Stoltzfus, husband of Marilyn Miller Stoltzfus, Gordonville, and sisters-in-law, Lillian Kauffman Beiler and Anna Mary Stoltzfoos Beiler, both of Paradise. Gary M. Tollinger, 62, of Willow Street, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, while under the care of Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Hess) Tollinger, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Leo N. Tollinger, of Quarryville, and Patsy (Groff) Eller, of Little Britain. Gary had worked for Buck Iron as a tow motor operator. In his early years, he enjoyed going camping. He also loved to hunt and fish and he enjoyed cooking on the grill. Larry G. Trout, age 78, of Lancaster passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Nelson H. and Inez M. Grumbling Trout. Larry worked as a serviceman for L.R. Keperling Appliances. He graduated from Solanco High School, class of 1963. Larry loved to “tinker”, he also enjoyed hunting, and being outdoors. He was the resident gardener at Neffsville, and was known for having a green thumb. He was a member of State Line Baptist Church in Rising Sun MD, where he was known to the congregation as the church’s handyman. If you ever walked through the doors at State Line Baptist Church, Larry was probably holding the door for you. |
