M. Eunice Taylor, 91, entered into rest on Saturday, February 4, 2017. She resided in Peach Bottom, PA from 1946 until 2009 when she moved to Nathan Village in Leola, PA. Eunice was born at home in Furches, NC on May 16, 1925 to the late Wiley Arthur and Flora Phouts Mabe. She was married for over 56 years to W. Winston Taylor, her true love and life’s partner, and with the help of their families built their lovely family home in Peach Bottom. She was a true home-maker, who worked tirelessly to maintain a happy home for Winston and their girls. She collected mugs and many other things for fun, enjoyed sewing and craft-making, and loved nature, birds and animals. She was a master gardener of vegetables and flowers, sharing the bounty and beauty with her family, friends and neighbors. She loved a good walk in the woods, enjoying watching wildlife and identifying plants, and raised butterflies and moths that she found, watching them hatch and fly free. A fishing trip or good summer picnic with family and friends, enjoying each other’s company, were great pleasures in her simple and joyful life. Eunice helped others, giving of her time and listening ear, and gave of herself in a way that has always inspired us. That legacy will live on forever in many hearts filled with happy memories of a truly good person who lived life well and selflessly. Peggy F. Pownall, 69, of Quarryville, entered into rest unexpectedly on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born in Quarryville she was the daughter of the late Shaeffer and Anna (Means) Fryberger. She and her husband, Walter C. Pownall would have celebrated 51 years of marriage this February. Before working with her husband on the family farm she was the secretary for the former Fulton and Little Britain Elementary Schools. Peggy was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. When not working on the farm she enjoyed traveling, going to the antique tractor pulls and playing cards. Mark D. Blevins, 46 of Quarryville PA, passed away on Tuesday January 31, 2017. He was born on April 1, 1970 in Lancaster PA, the son of Dean and Barbara (Singleton) Blevins. He was a 1988 graduate of Solanco High School and Attended Lebanon Valley College. Mark enjoyed time spent with his family, was known for his many culinary talents and a great love of fishing and spending time outdoors. John Rohrer Herr, 83, of 13 Clearfield Rd., New Providence, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital Tuesday evening, January 31, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was the son of the late John Heller Herr and Mabel Rohrer Herr. John was a lifelong farmer who loved the land. He was an active member of Mechanic Grove Mennonite Church, where he especially enjoyed the men’s Sunday School class. Lucinda Mae Sapp, 56, of Oxford PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of Charles Ben Sapp. They had celebrated 9 years of marriage. Born in Orlando, FL, she was the daughter of Hal and Shirley Halsey Phipps of Peach Bottom, PA. Cindy lived for her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed yarn crafts, crocheting, cooking and baking. She thoroughly enjoyed going to the beach. A member of Wrightsdale Baptist Church, she was one of the “Melody Makers”, a 6 women choral group. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Coles (Walt), Brownstown, PA, grandchildren, Landon and Peyton Coles, siblings, Sandy Duncan (Dave), Quarryville, Chip Phipps (Christine), Peach Bottom, Gary Phipps, Lancaster, step children, Amanda Sapp, Newark, DE, and Steven Sapp, Townsend, DE. |
