M. Eunice Taylor, 91, entered into rest on Saturday, February 4, 2017. She resided in Peach Bottom, PA from 1946 until 2009 when she moved to Nathan Village in Leola, PA. Eunice was born at home in Furches, NC on May 16, 1925 to the late Wiley Arthur and Flora Phouts Mabe. She was married for over 56 years to W. Winston Taylor, her true love and life’s partner, and with the help of their families built their lovely family home in Peach Bottom. She was a true home-maker, who worked tirelessly to maintain a happy home for Winston and their girls. She collected mugs and many other things for fun, enjoyed sewing and craft-making, and loved nature, birds and animals. She was a master gardener of vegetables and flowers, sharing the bounty and beauty with her family, friends and neighbors. She loved a good walk in the woods, enjoying watching wildlife and identifying plants, and raised butterflies and moths that she found, watching them hatch and fly free. A fishing trip or good summer picnic with family and friends, enjoying each other’s company, were great pleasures in her simple and joyful life. Eunice helped others, giving of her time and listening ear, and gave of herself in a way that has always inspired us. That legacy will live on forever in many hearts filled with happy memories of a truly good person who lived life well and selflessly. Eunice was the loving mother of her two daughters, Wanda T. Graham (George) and Connie S. York (Peter), much loved grandmother of Melinda M. Rich (Seth), Andrew T. Graham (Brenda), and Melanie S. Graham (Adam Bradley), and proud great-grandmother of Jaysen T. Graham and Bryce C. Graham. Also she is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply, and many members of Winston’s surviving family. Eunice was preceded in death by 6 brothers.
Eunice was a wonderful and loving mother, mother-in-law, granny, great grandma, aunt, friend and neighbor who was in her quiet and helpful ways a cherished gift to all, and will be remembered always for her love, kindness and strength. We now wish her peace and eternal rest, and will be thankful always for her long life, so very well-lived. Private traditional services will be held in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Hospice for all their love and care. Anyone wishing may make contributions in Eunice’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
