Peggy F. Pownall, 69, of Quarryville, entered into rest unexpectedly on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born in Quarryville she was the daughter of the late Shaeffer and Anna (Means) Fryberger. She and her husband, Walter C. Pownall would have celebrated 51 years of marriage this February. Before working with her husband on the family farm she was the secretary for the former Fulton and Little Britain Elementary Schools. Peggy was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. When not working on the farm she enjoyed traveling, going to the antique tractor pulls and playing cards. Surviving besides her husband are daughters; Lea, wife of Lee Cisney of New Holland, Betsy Pownall of Quarryville, grandchildren; Amber, Mandy and Zach along with a great grandson, Ethan, sisters; Betty Herr, Fay Herr, Marian Rhiner and a brother, Lewis Fryberger. She was preceded in death by a son, John, a grandson Andy, and sisters Anna Lowery and Patsy Fryberger.
A service celebrating Peggy’s life will be at Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 S. Hess St., Quarryville, PA on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. There will be an opportunity to greet the family immediately following the service. A public viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Interment will be private in Eastland Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers; contributions may be made in Peggy’s memory to Memorial United Methodist Church at the above address.
