![]() John Charles Harrison, 80, of Holtwood, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2024, while at home with his family at his side. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Paul F. and Rowene (Hunt) Harrison. He was the adoring husband of Harriet S. (Fleming) Harrison with whom he had just celebrated 58 years of marriage. John graduated from Delaware Valley University with a B.S. in Dairy Husbandry. He was a member of Oakwood Mennonite Church, where he had served as pastor since 1991. John had also worked as the farm manager for Twin Gap Farm in Mt. Bethel, PA for 15 years. He loved teaching others, a gift he used as the high school science teacher at Faith Mennonite High School in Kinzers for 38 years. John enjoyed volunteering with local ministries and interacting with young people, always encouraging them to follow Jesus. He enjoyed working on small engines and helping those in need. He also loved spending time with his family. In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his children: Richard J., husband of Anita Harrison of Parkesburg; Kathleen J., wife of Michael Perkowetz of Perry Hall, MD; and Paul M., husband of Renita Harrison of Kinzers; 10 grandchildren: Marietta, Earl, Sabrina, Gabriella, Blaine, Joshua, Racquel, Elliot, Jasper, and Kiprian; a sister, Linda Wagner and a niece, Christine Wagner.
A Funeral Service will take place at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Hwy., Quarryville, PA on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service in the Rawlinsville Mennonite Cemetery.
