![]() John Alvin Manges of Oxford, Pennsylvania passed away on May 7th after an extended illness. John was the son of James W. Jr and Donna J. (Melius) Manges of New Enterprise, PA. John married Mary A. Clouse in 1977 and together they shared 46 years of marriage. John is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Rebecca Botha (John) of Oxford; daughter Megan Briggeman (Steven) of York, granddaughters Lauren and Aubrey Botha, Caroline Briggeman, his mother Donna J., brother Rock (Carla) of New Enterprise, and brother Wayne (Lori) of Sorrento, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Jr. John will be dearly missed by his wife, family and Basset hound, Ellie May. John joined the Navy in 1974, becoming a Cryptological Technician for more than 13 years. John’s duty stations included Edsel Scottland, Sugar Grove WV, Panama, taught at Corry Station in Pensacola, FL, and aboard the USS John Rodgers. John graduated from Northern Bedford County High School and Chester County Community College with an Associate Degre in Computer Information Systems. John worked for Intergraph Systems, Dade Behring and retired from Siemen’s Health Care Solutions.
John enjoyed hunting, woodworking, watching the Pittsburgh Penguins and had a season ticket for the Hershey Bears Hockey Team. A viewing will be at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, 86 Pine Street, Oxford PA on Saturday May 11th from 6-8pm. A viewing will be at Stone Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Woodbury, PA on Monday May 13th from 6-8pm and on Tuesday May 14th from 10-11am, with a funeral following. Interment will be at Dry Hill Cemetery in Woodbury, PA with military honors.
