Robert E. “Bobby” Myers, 60, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard R. and Lois J. (Eshleman) Myers. Bobby was a 1981 graduate of Solanco High School, where he excelled at basketball. He was an avid North Carolina Tarheels and Baltimore Orioles fan. He loved hunting, fishing, playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Boat Dock Bob”, he managed the dock operations at Muddy Run Park for the past several years. Norma Jane Irwin, age 84 of Cochranville, passed away at her home on Friday, March 17, 2023. She was the wife of the late Howard D. Irwin, who passed away on February 21, 2018. She was born in West Chester, daughter of the late Harry & Isabelle Hutchinson Miller. She attended Andrews Bridge Fellowship. In the past Jane had worked as a hostess at Gap Diner, Family Style Restaurant of Lancaster and last worked at Dollar General of Oxford. She enjoyed reading, puzzle books, singing, dancing, dogs, cats and her grandsons rabbit LuLu. Joanne J. Frick, age 87 of Quarryville, PA, passed away at the Lancaster Nursing and Rehab Center of Lancaster on Friday, March 17, 2023. She was the wife of the late Walter H. "Shorty" Frick, who passed away on June 27, 2000. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Lee & Anna Hettinger Mohler. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church of Quarryville. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, needlepoint and the Philadelphia sports teams. George T. Holland, Jr., 90, of Nottingham, PA passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at home. He was the husband of the late Alma Louise Atwood Holland with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Nottingham, PA he was the son of the late George T., Sr. and Bertha Freese Holland. He was a member of the Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. George farmed in West Nottingham Township and Fulton Township and was also employed with Oxford Agway on the spraying truck. He loved his family and enjoyed his yard and garden. O. Pearl Heisler, 97, formerly of New Providence, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Christiana. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Wiggins) Barron. She was the loving wife of the late Charles E. Heisler, Sr. for 59 years at the time of his passing. Pearl was an active, long-time member of the former Zion United Church of Christ. She was a talented painter and she also enjoyed crafts, cooking, and baking. James S. Klube, 79, of Millersville, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on March 12, 2023, from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was the son of the late Jay and Doris (Smith) Klube of Geneva, New York, where Jim was born and raised. Jim worked for Zumstein Trucking as a Regional Sales Manager of the East Coast for many years. He retired and later worked for Twin Locust Barns Inc. Jim was also an active member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. His quick wit and great sense of humor, along with that mischievous twinkle in his eye, will be truly missed by all. Violet M. McKinney, 85, of New Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Royce McKinney, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. Born in Shady Valley, TN, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Opal L. (Mullins) Shoun. In addition to being a wonderful wife, she was also a loving mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of others before her own. Violet had a kind and gentle disposition and enjoyed the company of children. She enjoyed going to yard sales, watching her TV programs, and collecting lighthouses, frogs, and artificial flowers. Violet was employed by the Nottingham Canning Company for over 20 years. She was a member of New Bridge Regular Baptist Church of Colora, MD. Ronald L. Herr, age 79 of Holtwood, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of Hannah Lehoe Herr with whom he celebrated 27 years of marriage on December 15th, and the late Judy Gehman Herr. Born in Drumore, he was the son of the late John and Marion Mim Herr. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He retired from PPL Electric and then worked part time for Mount Airy Lumber. Ron honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In his free time, he loved woodworking, bowling, doing puzzles, hunting, fishing, camping, and riding his Harley. Ora G. Sturgill, 96, formerly of Oxford, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late James S. and Lizzie (Jones) Greer. She was the wife of the late Eugene Sturgill. Ora had worked as a seamstress at Tidy’s in Quarryville and attended Ashville Bible Chapel. She enjoyed cooking big family meals, baking cakes, chocolate macaroons and her famous strawberry pizza. She also had an extensive cook book collection. Naomi L. Esh, age 73 of 1336 Flintville Road, Delta, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at her home.
She was the wife of the late Melvin K. Esh who passed away on November 10, 2014. Born in Bird In Hand, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Annie Lapp Miller. Naomi was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. |
