![]() Violet M. McKinney, 85, of New Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Royce McKinney, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. Born in Shady Valley, TN, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Opal L. (Mullins) Shoun. In addition to being a wonderful wife, she was also a loving mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of others before her own. Violet had a kind and gentle disposition and enjoyed the company of children. She enjoyed going to yard sales, watching her TV programs, and collecting lighthouses, frogs, and artificial flowers. Violet was employed by the Nottingham Canning Company for over 20 years. She was a member of New Bridge Regular Baptist Church of Colora, MD. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Lonnie McKinney, husband of Mary, of New Texas, Raymond McKinney, husband of Sandy, of Rising Sun, and David James McKinney, husband of Darthey, of Darlington, MD. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a sister-in-law, Judy Shoun, of Mountain City, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Nichole McKinney, and a brother, Richard B. Shoun.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at New Bridge Regular Baptist Church, 32 Wyatt Lane, Colora, MD 21917. Please do not send flowers.
