Mary Lou Herman of Quarryville died at home on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. She was 83. Mrs. Herman was born in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Raymond and Naomi Abel Hake. She worked for R.C.A. in Lancaster; Hubley Toys, Lancaster; and Tidy Products, Quarryville. She also worked as a nurse's aide for Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for more than 20 years. Mrs. Herman was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Robert Fulton Chapter 446, Order of the Eastern Star.
She had been a volunteer driver for the Quarryville Ambulance Association. Mrs. Herman is survived by her son, Ralph, husband of Dawn Herman of Quarryville; her daughter, Diane, wife of Steve Groff of Lancaster; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two brothers, Glenn, husband of Maggie Angeline Hake of California and Bill, husband of Doris Hake of Landisville. Her husband, Ralph K. Herman, died in 1999. A son, Jeff Herman; four brothers; and three sisters are also deceased. Graveside services will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Rd., Lancaster, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, with Pastor Glenn Compton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 S. Hess St., Quarryville PA 17566. Arrangements were made through Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville.
