Marguerite "Peg" O. Reardon of Willow Street died at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Thursday, February 27, 2014. She was 95. Mrs. Reardon was born in Fulton Township, a daughter of the late Granville and Ethel Pierce Overly. She was a graduate of Quarryville High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Millersville University. She taught elementary school for 36 years, starting her career in the Penn Manor School District. She taught in the Solanco School District from 1940 to 1964, moving back to Penn Manor from 1964 until her retirement in 1974.
Mrs. Reardon was a member of the Willow Street United Church of Christ, the King's Daughters and Sons, and P.A.S.R. She was a past president of the West Willow Seniors. She had organized the reunions for Quarryville High School's Class of 1935. Mrs. Reardon enjoyed spending time with her family, cross stitching, crocheting, knitting, and making ceramics. An avid card player, she was a member of several card clubs. She is survived by her sister, Connie, wife of Sam T. Groff of Peach Bottom; her brother, Donald, husband of Jene Lee Overly of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, James B. Reardon, died in 1997. Two sisters, Mildred Baldwin and Anne Joretta Overly, are also deceased. Services will be held from the Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 6. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service where friends may visit with the family. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster PA 17604. Arrangements were made through Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville.
