![]() Margaret R. Kreider, 81, of Nottingham, died September 8, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John W. Kreider; daughter, Janet Alger (Lisa Smith); step -daughter, Joann Moorer; step-son, Jeffrey Kreider (Jennifer); two granddaughters and a sister, Mary Hinkle. She was born in Broadway, Virginia on January 22, 1942 to the late Rev. A.T. and Pearl (Eaton) Rollins. For the first half of her life, she resided in Rockingham Co., Virginia. Margaret was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite High School, Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and Eastern Mennonite University, all in Harrisonburg, VA. Margaret received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Virgnia, Charlottesville. She practiced as a Registered Nurse for 53 years. She worked as an instructor of nursing at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Eastern Mennonite University, and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Lancaster. She also worked in health care and school nursing for the School District of Lancaster. After her retirement, Margaret continued nursing on a part time basis in Lincoln University, Oxford and the Willow Street Vo-Tech Practical Nursing Program. She also volunteered at the Water Street Health Center in Lancaster. In addition to her nursing career, she enjoyed gardening, square dancing, and taking trips to the ocean and mountains with family and friends.
Margaret served as adult Sunday School teacher, missions coordinator and choir member at Refton Brethren in Christ. She also attended Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church in Quarryville, where she sang in the choir and coordinated the visitation ministry to shut-ins and led a ladies bible study. More recently, she was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church, where she was an ordained deacon, taught Sunday School and served on the missions committee. There will be a viewing at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville, PA on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will take place at Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Rd., Peach Bottom, PA on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. Private interment will take place prior to the service in the New Providence Mennonite Cemetery.
