Jere Jay Groff, 79, of Manheim, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Witmer and Ann Elizabeth (Metzler) Groff. He was the loving husband of Betty L. (Delong) Groff for 56 years. Jere was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He retired from Armstrong World Industries in 1995 after 33 years of employment in the tile department. After retirement, he went on to work for WAY Delivery Services for ten years. Jere had attended Calvary Church for 78 years and actively served in various capacities. He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling with Betty through Bob Neff Tours and tinkering with cars. In addition to his wife, Jere is survived by 4 children: Doris, wife of Pius Onochie of Lititz; Donald E., husband of Sherry Groff of Mt. Joy; Denise, wife of Brian Luke of KS; and Dwight, husband of Michele Groff of N.J.; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and siblings: Naomi Parke, and Raymond, Robert, and Nelson Groff. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jane Miller; a grandson, David Brandt, and a son-in-law, Carl Brandt.
A funeral service will take place at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, PA on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and also on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Quarryville Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
