Karl V. Brubaker, 91, of Quarryville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Jean B. (Booth) Brubaker, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Lena M. (Dorsey) Brubaker. Karl was a graduate of East Drumore High School, class of 1944. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy 125th Construction Battalion, and he was aboard the USS Missouri when the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed. After Karl was discharged, he took advantage of education offered by the military and earned an associate’s degree in electrical service. Karl was employed as an electrician by Zimmerman & Walsh for 17 years, and then started his own business, Karl V. Brubaker Electrical Contractor, retiring in 1995. In 1950 Karl became a member of Wrightsdale Baptist Church. He and Jean were married there, and over the years he served as a deacon and a Training Union Director. Karl was also a member of The Gideons. For hobbies, Karl was an avid rock collector, and he enjoyed bowling, roller skating, and hunting deer and small game.
In addition to his wife, Karl is survived by his children, Karleen Brubaker-Ferree, and husband Steve, of Vero Beach, FL, Darlean Brubaker Albert, and husband Gene, of Lynchburg, VA, Brian Karl Brubaker, of Los Angeles, CA, and Susan Brubaker Rhoades, and husband Larry, of Lutz, FL. He is also survived by 6 grandsons, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Karl was preceded in death by 2 grandsons. A graveside committal service and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Bethesda United Methodist Cemetery, 1086 Hilldale Road, Holtwood. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Wrightsdale Baptist Church, 310 Little Britain Road South, Peach Bottom, PA 17563. Friends will have an opportunity to visit with the family immediately following the service.
