Joseph Patrick Gallagher, 63, of New Providence, entered into rest on Friday, December 14, 2018 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Colorado Springs, CO, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Patricia (Ashby) Gallagher. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Dawn (Hertz) Gallagher. Joe was a 1972 graduate of McCaskey High School. He went on to serve in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Joe retired from Bulova in Lancaster after 33 years of employment. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved spending time hunting and fishing in Potter Co. and North Carolina. Joe was also a Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Also surviving are 3 children: Mandy, wife of Matthew Roth; Jason Gallagher; and Nicole Gallagher; 5 grandchildren: Mya, Vera, Joey, Jenny, and Brady; and 2 sisters, Susan Gallagher of Indiana and Patty Gallagher of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and David Gallagher.
A celebration of Joe’s life will take place at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville, PA on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Casual dress is requested or come dressed in camouflage or Philadelphia Eagles or Phillies attire.
