Jacob A. Gicker, Jr., 77, of Drumore, entered into rest on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Newark, DE, he was the son of the late J. Allen and Edythe (Suppe) Gicker. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Diane (Netsch) Gicker. Jake had retired from the Solanco School District and was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He served on the Board of Directors for the Solanco Fair Assoc. and was well known for grilling hamburgers and hotdogs at the fair. He was past Master of the Jackson Lodge #19 A.F. &A.M. in Delaware City, DE. Jake also enjoyed buying and selling antiques. In addition to his wife, Jake is survived by a son, Jacob A., III and his companion, Susan Herlinger of Philadelphia; and a daughter, Robin G., wife of Dennis Crow of Wisconsin. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Emilie, Anna, Ryland, and Jacob, a sister, Barbara Schofield and brothers, Lawrence, Gary, and David.
A service celebrating Jake’s life will take place at Memorial United Methodist Church, 101 S. Hess St., Quarryville on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Kindly omit flowers.
