Howard W. “Junie” Hall, Jr., 88, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 11, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Mary-Jane (Rankin) Hall, sharing 60 years of marriage together. Born in Colerain, he was the son of the late Howard W., Sr., and Emma Catherine (Levering) Hall. Howard was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, class of 1947. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, and earning the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He then went on to be employed for 30 years by Garden Spot Motor Company as Service Manager, and then as Maintenance Director of Ned Bard Trucking, retiring in 1999 with 15 years’ service. A follower of baseball, Howard was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He also followed Nascar, especially Davey Allison. For leisure, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his early years, Howard raised beagles and participated in field trials. He was a member of Colemanville United Methodist Church for 17 years, and he was also a member of the American Legion. In spite of his chronic illness, Howard didn’t complain and always showed appreciation to his caregivers.
In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Tom) Welk, Lori (Warren) Walter, and Vicki (Jack) Eldridge; grandson, Joshua (Jennifer) Welk; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jovan, Julianna, Chase, and Colton; sisters, Mazie Fry and Dorothy Shenk; brother, Donald Hall; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
