Henry Lee Young ,94, of Peach Bottom passed away on August 31st at Hospice & Community Care. Henry was born in Emmerton, MD, son of the late Lee B. and Jenny Kilby Young. Henry served with the US Army two years during the Korean conflict. Henry was a lifelong dairy farmer, the last 43 years in partnership with his sons Matthew & David in Little Britain. Except for the final weeks of his life, Henry was at work on the family farm early each morning where he spent his days building and repairing. Henry was an avid hunter and fisherman until the last months of his life. His favorite spot was his quiet mountain cabin in Fulton County. Henry was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Quarryville for almost 77 years where he served in many ways, including as an elder for 44 years. Henry's life was characterized by an unwavering faith in Christ, hard work, humble contentment, and service to his family, church and community. Henry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Troop Young. Also by his 4 children, Barbara, wife of James Orsag of Quarryville, Matthew, husband of Linda Young of Peach Bottom, Susan, wife of Thomas Frey of Conestoga, and David, husband of Carol Young of Peach Bottom. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as a brother Earl Young of Peach Bottom and a sister Naomi Anders of Tampa, Florida. Henry was preceded in death by 9 brothers & sisters.
There will be private family burial in the Little Britain Presbyterian Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 611 Robert Fulton Hwy., Quarryville on Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 am with a time to greet the family beforehand from 10-11am.
