George L. Hanna, 70, of Strasburg, died December 14, 2015 at his home after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Born in Lancaster, he grew up in Nickel Mines, PA. George was the son of the late George M. and Benarda Mae (Hukey) Hanna. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn (Witmer) Hanna. He is also survived by 3 children: Quay Hanna (Shannon), Mitchell Hanna (Miki), and Becky Scheurich (Mark); nine grandchildren; Quay Jr., Oliver, Lexie, Violet, Danny, Taylor, married to Samantha, Grace, Maddie, and Ethan; and one great-grandchild, Isla. George was a charter member of High View Church of God and for 35 years played an active role in all phases of its growth; from building maintenance to leadership council. He taught Sunday school for 35 years and always loved the members of his classes. He owes his love of the Lord to his foster parents, the late Roy and Ruth Hanna and was eternally grateful to them for introducing him to his savior, Jesus Christ. He made his life about finding ways to serve others, including his donation of more than 10 gallons of blood over the years. George retired from UPS in 1999 after 30 years of service and also retired from Christiana Cabinetry in 2006. George was extremely proud of the 4 years he spent in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. His time in the military allowed him to become a crew chief on C-130 aircrafts and the opportunity to fly all over the world. He was honorably discharged in 1969 as a Staff Sergeant.
