Eugene K. Frey, 86, of Holtwood, entered into rest on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at his home. Born in Providence Twp., he was a son of the late Elias and Gertrude (Kline) Frey. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha E. (Weitzel) Frey. Early in his life, Gene served in the United States Navy and worked as a carpenter. He built all four of the homes that he lived in. He went on to work for Fulton Bank for over forty years. He was known for stringing the white Christmas lights on the trees that lined the streets in Lancaster at Fulton Bank and Shaub’s. Gene played softball in the southern end church league and was a member of the Worship Center. Gene was known as a hard worker who could get anything done. He was an avid hunter who also enjoyed fishing and landscaping. In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by 2 children: T. Craig, husband of Trish Frey of Holtwood and Kimberly, wife of Steve McKinney of East Petersburg. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Joel and Jesse and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Jacob, Edward and Carl.
Gene’s funeral will take place at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Blake Deibler officiating. Interment will follow in the Rawlinsville United Methodist Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
