On March 29, 2018, Elias Benjamin Miller, Jr. of Drumore, the strong, shining beacon of our family has gone on to shine brighter with God, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 8, 1940 in Mt. Nebo, he was married for 56 years to Donna Henry Miller. He is also survived by his children, John S. Miller, E. Benjamin Miller III, husband to Danielle M. Miller, Connie S. Miller, Matthew H. Miller, husband to Marti Miller, beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews. He humbly and proudly served his country as a Marine, his family, and his God. He was the compass that guided his beloved family to be better human beings, simply by being the kind, loving man that was loved so dearly. His legacy isn’t measured by standard accolades, achievements, and accomplishments, but rather by handing down love, grace, kindness, generosity, and compassion. His accomplishments didn't rest on a shelf, he was the man who built the shelf. To create something that was made with love in every cut and attention to detail, from rolling pins to hope chests there wasn't anything he couldn't do to show his craftsmanship, and by extension his love for you. His achievements are seen reflected in every person's life he touched. His hugs were legendary and to receive one made you feel like you were enveloped in pure love. Like the gardens he so loved tending, he cultivated friendship and goodwill effortlessly with his gentle nature, easy going personality, and a smile on his face and in his heart.
While his family deeply grieves over the loss of “Gentle Big Ben”, they are sustained by the deep abiding faith he instilled in them every day. He raised kind, loving people, who in turn have raised kind, loving people, who are now raising kind, loving people, and that is where the strength of his legacy will live on. Services will be held at Chestnut Level Church, Quarryville, on Friday, April 6th. Visitation from 6-7 pm, Service at 7 pm, and Fellowship at 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care or Chestnut Level Youth Mission Programs.
