Harry J. McFadden, 76, of Lancaster, went home to heaven peacefully on Dec. 3, 2017, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, until moving to Quarryville in 1972. He had resided in Lancaster since 2001. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis (MacDurmon), daughters: Robin Caffey (Jeff) of Willow Street, Dianne Hershey (Shane) of Shippensburg, and Sandy Turek (David) of Quarryville. Seven grandchildren: Arielle Dunkle (Jonathan), Alec Turek, Leesha Rannels (Luke), Joseph Turek (Rachel), Holly Jaffe (Jordan), and Luke and Paige Hershey. He was preceded in death by a grand daughter Bree Caffey. There are also 5 great grandchildren: Justice Clifford, Cohen and Taryn Scout Dunkle, and Trenton and Adler Rannels. He is also survived by his mother Laura McFadden and a sister, Carol McFadden, both of New Port Richey, FL. He was a member of the American Legion Post #34.
After serving 4 years in the Navy, Harry was employed by PECo, (now Exelon Corp), Delta, PA for 30 years, working in the maintenance department. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and softball player. In most recent years, he volunteered at the food pantry, and enjoyed doing lawn care and house maintenance for family and neighbors. While he was ill, he enjoyed coloring detailed pictures to give out to care staff, and family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pequea Brethren in Christ Church, 40 Church Rd, Lancaster on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at 11am.
