Stuart Nelson passed away surrounded by loved ones Tuesday, 27 Feb 2018, from pancreatic cancer. Stuart was born on 12 January 1941, the son of Olov Konrad Nelson of Sweden and Dorothy May Snow of New York. He is survived by Judy Nelson, his wife of 54 years, his brothers John and Dale, his two sons Andrew and David, his daughter Susanne, his daughters-in law Paula and Jean, and his 5 beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Calvin, Daniel, Melissa and David Jr. Stuart was a great, loving and supportive father and he cherished and loved his grandchildren greatly. After being raised on Long Island, Stuart served in the Army 1961 to 1963. He obtained his chemistry degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University and worked many places while raising his family: Lever Brothers, Upjohn, Stromberg Carlson, and mostly at Philadelphia Electric at Peach Bottom Power Plant until retirement in 1996. He served in many volunteer organizations including the Emergency Management Agency. After some volunteer work at Landis Valley and Rockford, Stuart began working for Pennsylvania State House Representatives and especially State Representative Bryan Cutler. Stuart worked for Bryan for 10 years. Stuart cherished his relationship with Bryan, his fellow office staff coworkers, and the challenges of helping folks solving many problems over the years. Stuart always instilled the value of education and being both financially sound and minimizing debt. Stuart had an active mind, funny wit, good sense of humor, and enjoyed managing the details. Stuart was an avid Penn State football fan and he loved watching Duke basketball games. He enjoyed watching the news, playing “Civilization” and being around people. Stuart was much loved and will be greatly missed.
