Betty Jean Irmen, 58, of Quarryville, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at her daughter’s home where she was doing what she loved most, watching her grandchildren. Betty was the wife of the late Leroy Irmen, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2011, and who surely was the first to greet her in her new Heavenly home. Betty and Leroy would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on August 14, 2016. Betty will forever be remembered by her two daughters; Jennifer Eisenberger, married to Matthew Eisenberger of Quarryville and Tera Koehler, married to Jesse Koehler of Lancaster. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Earl Rutledge and her brother David Rutledge of Peach Bottom. Betty graduated from Solanco High School in 1976. Her first career was raising her children and baking cakes. She later dedicated over 20 years of service to the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Home as a Director of Housekeeping where she developed long-lasting friendships before retiring in 2011.
Betty was a member of Wesley Church of Quarryville. She was dedicated to her family and after retirement enjoyed being a “Mom-Mom,” beach vacations with family, playing Bingo, hosting family get-togethers, and cooking. She also had quite a sense of humor and will be remembered for her stories, jokes, and comments that always brought a smile to those around her. Betty was a strong woman who endured much more than she deserved. After losing her husband, Betty struggled to find her way without him. Those who knew her, will remember her quiet strength, courageous heart, and her love and sacrifice for her family. Betty’s life will be celebrated on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Wesley Church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike Quarryville PA 17566. A visitation will be held from 9 – 11 a.m. with services to follow.
