Bertelle Rintz, Registered Nurse, passed away at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on September 5, 2018 at the age of 82. Bertelle, more commonly known as Bert or Aunt Bert, was born on February 21, 1936 in Providence Township to the most loving, caring, and wonderful family a person could possibly have. Her parents were Pearl Stively Rintz and Arnol Lefever Rintz and she was blessed with a sister, Violet, and two brothers, Carlton and Gerald. On September 5, 2018, Bertelle began her life in eternity. Her family will shed tears of mourning, but they must remember that she is now home. They cannot see her, but her spiritual eyes filled with the light of heaven will always be watching them, tenderly and lovingly awaiting the day they too will enter the doorway to their eternal home, and once again be with her. Bertelle grew up in Quarryville and lived there all her life. She was a longtime member of Memorial Methodist Church and graduated from Solanco High School in 1954. Graduating from nursing school at Lancaster General Hospital in 1957, she worked as an obstetrical nurse supervisor on the 11-7 shift until accepting the position as Director of Nursing at the Quarryville Presbyterian Home. She obtained her B.S.N. degree from Saint Joseph’s College in 1983 and was also a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Bertelle retired from the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community in March 2001 after 35 years of service. Bertelle enjoyed helping people. She volunteered as an EMT with the Quarryville Community Ambulance for over 40 years and served both as a board member and board president. She also volunteered with the Strasburg Ambulance and as a CPR instructor for The American Red Cross. Bertelle enjoyed selling Avon for over 20 years and after her retirement substituted as a school nurse for Penn Manor School District. She was an avid fan of the Phillies and Michigan State University football and basketball. She also enjoyed bowling, travelling, and fishing, and in later years attending baseball, football, and lacrosse games at Penn Manor to cheer on great-nephews Marc and Eric.
Bertelle was predeceased by parents Pearl Stively Rintz and Arnol Lefever Rintz, brother Gerald Rintz, and sister Violet Grissinger. Remaining are beloved brother Carlton, multiple nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
