Donald M. Rohrer, 87, of Lancaster, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 7, 2021. He was the loving husband of Lois E. Demmy Rohrer, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He was born in Strasburg, son of the late Raymond and Ethel Rohrer. He attended the West Lampeter High School, and prior to that the Walnut Run one room school house. Surrounded by the farming life, Don was a master tobacco farmer, which led him to receive numerous first place tobacco awards both at the West Lampeter Fair and the Pennsylvania State Farm Show. The Strasburg community enjoyed his sweet corn, collie pups, and the meat from his black angus steers. Don was a pro at balancing the farm life and family life, by being present at both sporting events and musicals of his children and grandchildren. Don took great pride in his three girls, their husbands, and his five grandchildren. A Christmas tradition the family will long cherish is hearing Dad reading the story of Christ’s birth in Luke 2, from his weathered Bible. If you knew Don you knew your first greeting was a hug or a strong handshake. No one was a stranger; everyone was a friend. Donald E. Wallace, 75 of Lancaster, went to be with his Lord on October 6, 2021. Born on January 2, 1946, he was the son of the late Muncie and Mary Cregger Wallace. He and his wife Carol Martin Wallace celebrated 49 years of marriage. He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church, Quarryville, PA and a life time member of Robert Fulton Fire Company, Rising Sun Fire Company, and a former member of Manor Ridge Lions Club. Don also ran with Wakefield Ambulance Association. Don worked for PENN DOT for 32 years. Alyssa Faith Warfel, 21, of East Drumore, passed away unexpectedly on October 5th, 2021. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Christopher L. Warfel and Kasey L. (McCauley) Warfel, with whom she resided. Alyssa graduated from Solanco High School in 2018. She followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother by working as an Emergency Dispatcher at Lancaster County-Wide Communications. Outside of work, she had an eye for photography, a love for hiking and Jeeps, and was always hanging out with close friends and family. Her love for animals was apparent by how much she loved her dogs Rayden and Jax. Alyssa had a zest for life like none other with a smile and laugh that was infectious. James A. Klonaris, age 88, of Atglen, PA, passed away at the Chester County Hospital on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. Ryan Klonaris, who passed away on September 28, 2021. He was born in St. Louis, MO, son of the late James N. Klonaris and Dorothy Rasckevice Klonaris Riley. He served in the 82nd Army Airborne Division. In the past along with his wife he owned and operated Gap Diner and the Grapevine Deli-Restaurant in Parkesburg. He had also worked at Yarnell Security of Smoketown until the age of 81. He enjoyed fixing anything, cooking, sailing, flying airplanes and traveling. V. Gloria Hilton, age 91, formerly of Christiana, went home to meet Jesus face to face on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. She was the wife of the late Carroll L. "Tim" Hilton. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Harold R. and Vivian I. Reynolds Long. Gloria was an active past member of the Christiana United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, lay speaker, past president of the Methodist Women's group, worship chairperson, Sunday School teacher, attended the Alpha Ministries and was involved in various other committees. Gloria worked at the former Action Manufacturing Company, Atglen, Penguin Industries, Parkesburg, Keystone Mushroom Growers, Pomeroy, and Denny Tag Co., West Chester. She was also involved with her community as a member of the Moore Memorial Friends of the Library, Christiana. Robert "Bob" Wineberg, age 80, of Tel Retirement Community, previously of Gap, passed away at the Mt. Joy Hospice Center on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. He was the husband of Marilyn Mercer Wineberg for over 45 years. Born in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late John Walter Wineberg & Zelda Hazlett Wineberg Amundson. He was raised in Punxsutawny and enjoyed hunting, fishing, football. As a boy, he always carried a salt shaker so that when he was hungry, he could raid one of the neighbor's gardens and snack on the peppers, tomatoes, or whatever else was ready to eat. He graduated from Punxsutawney High School, class of 1959. Bob served in the US Air Force from 1959 to 1962 on a B52 Bomber as a navigator and electrical technician. He worked and attended the University of Delaware, worked at HRB Singer in State College, Lukens Steel in Coatesville, and PSE&G in New Jersey. Bob worked as an electrician and instrumentation engineer. Sarah S. Stoltzfus, 83 of 552 Beechdale Rd., Bird in Hand, passed away on Monday October 4th 2021 at the home of her niece in Kinzers. Born in Bowmansville, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Katie Stoltzfus Stoltzfus. A homemaker, Miss Stoltzfus was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Anna B. Stoltzfus, 16, of 224 Friends Rd., Nottingham, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 at her home. She had been ill since birth. Born in Nottingham, she was the daughter of Isaac F. and Sadie Beiler Stoltzfus. Anna attended the Old Order Amish Church.
B. Kevin Johnson, age 80, of Christiana, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
He was the husband of E. Kaye Greenfield Johnson, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage with on September 3rd. He was born in North Carolina, son of the late D. Walter & Cleona Burleson Johnson. He graduated from Octorara High School, class of 1959 and then attended Millersville University. Early in his working career he worked for General Motors, then as a draftsman and then as an architect for Althouse Martin & Associates. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed dog training and loved his German shepherds and basset hounds. William Randolph "Randy" Hauer, 71, formerly of Quarryville, entered into rest on Monday, October 4, 2021 at his residence in Wilmerding, PA.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Merlin H. and Beulah (Dodd) Hauer. Randy had worked for Lukens Steel in the past and had most recently worked in the maintenance department of the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served our country in Vietnam. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed taking trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo. |
