Joseph P. Fisher, 83, of Oxford, PA passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 9, 2022 in Quarryville, PA. Joseph was born in West Grove, PA on April 15, 1939 to the late Joseph C. and Florence Taylor Fisher. He was a lifelong resident of Oxford, graduating from Oxford Area High School in 1957. In school, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. Upon graduating, Joseph worked as a welder, prior to taking over the family dairy farm business, which he continued to run for 40 years. Upon his retirement from farming, Joseph found great pleasure in the relationships he formed while working for Noble Road Milking Equipment Company until his death. In 1965 Joseph married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Gayle Cummings, and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past May. P. Clifford Boyd, age 73, of Peach Bottom, PA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. He was the husband of Grace R. Spangler Boyd, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage with on October 21st. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Paul and Ruth McVey Boyd. He attended Calvary Monument Bible Church of Paradise. He graduated from Solanco High School. Cliff served in the Army during the Vietnam War serving in Germany. In the past he drove fuel truck for Alger Oil Company. He enjoyed sports especially watching and playing golf. Verna D. Beard, 83, a resident of Nottingham, PA for 48 years, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of the late Lawrence B. Beard with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Houtzdale, PA she was the daughter of the late Alberta Phillips. She is survived by two sons, Terrance L. Leair of York and William R. LeFevre of Mingoville; one daughter, Lauren D. Beard of Nottingham; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Leair of OH. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Phillips and sister, Donna Sharpless. Barbara Herr, age 75 of Willow Street, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022. She was born in Lancaster and was the devoted daughter of the late Aldus J. and Dorothy V. Kirsch Herr. Known as Bobbie to her family and Barb to her friends, she was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, where she then worked for 34 years in the business office. She enjoyed collecting Longaberger Baskets, Boyds Bears, and other keepsakes throughout her life. She loved decorating for every holiday and season, especially her many Christmas trees. She spent much of her time knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and making clothes for her nieces. She loved shopping for her friends and family all year-round and was known for finding unique treasures on QVC and the Home Shopping Network. Michael F. Walker, 68, of Stevens, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022. Born in Bart, PA, Michael was the son of the late Freeman H. & Jean L. (Hilton) Walker and a husband to Frances A. (Tripodi) Walker for 26 years. Michael was a graduate of Solanco High School, class of 1972. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked as a foreman in metal fabrication. He enjoyed golf, playing pool, and birdwatching. For many years he volunteered to check the blue bird boxes at Middle Creek. He loved being outdoors and loved watching wildlife. He enjoyed classic rock music. Elsie Marie Booth, 84, of Buck Road, Quarryville, PA went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Friday, September 2, 2022. She was the wife of Charles O. Booth, Jr. Born in Lancaster County she was the daughter of the late Roy Waltman and Mary Frances Eshleman Byers. She was employed as a secretary for her husband’s construction business, Charles O. Booth, Jr. Building Contractor and also as a school bus driver. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, hunting, birdwatching, going to the mountains, and planting flowers, especially geraniums. Elsie adored her family and friends. Frances A. Swift, age 60 of Pequea, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2022. She was the wife of John B. Swift. She was born in Columbus, OH, daughter to Minnie Jennings Hunnell of New Providence and the late Robert Hunnell. She enjoyed traveling with John in his truck. Surviving besides her husband are 2 children: Emily, wife of John Paul Bleecher of Pequea, Brian Riffey of New Providence, 7 grandchildren, 3 siblings: Maggie wife of Ernest Sprout of Rising Sun, MD, Chris Wiley of Holtwood, Danver husband of Tammy Meadows Tunnel of Rising Sun, MD. Dolores M. Willey, 84, of Nottingham, passed peacefully into her Saviors arms on Tuesday August 30, 2022, surrounded by loved ones in her home. Dolores had an inspiring sense of wonder for life's simple pleasures and made any and every occasion, big or small, special. Unsparing in her care, she believed in the bottomless potential of the small, compassionate act, and her generosity was LEGEND. If proof was ever needed that God seeks instruments through which to give, Dolores gave it. |
