Norma R. Fichtner, age 93, of Quarryville, entered into her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in Lancaster, surrounded by her loving family. She had been under the care of her son, Lee Fichtner and daughter, Lori Jo Duvall. Born in Providence Township, she was the daughter of the late Howard Reese and Annie Trissler Reese. Norma was married to John “Skip” Fichtner for 57 years. Norma was predominately a homemaker, mother and grandmother, but also worked in the billing dept. at Armstrong Cork Co., a nurse’s aide at the Quarryville Presbyterian Home and a school bus driver for the Solanco School District. She was an active member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Lancaster, where she faithfully served at the welcome center. Norma was a bold servant of Christ and ministered to and met the needs of many people. She taught CEF Good News Clubs, worked in the church nursery, taught Sunday school classes, served in the Release Time Bible program for children and assisted with Meals on Wheels. E. E. Patricia (Sinclair) Woerth, 88, went to be with her loved ones whom have gone before her on August 11, 2022 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt Joy. She was the wife of John (Jack) Woerth for 59 ½ wonderful years, who passed before her on October of 2013. Together they have five children: John Scott (Linda Stoltzfus), Kimberly Anne (Jerry) Bandy, Brian David (Cheryn Heckel), Lori Ann (Jim) Wiggins and Amy Jo (deceased). They also had eight grandchildren: Veronica wife of Brian Mull, Jaclyn Woerth, Jessica wife of Ryan Dunlevy, John Clayton husband of Lindsay Fisher Bandy, Chelsea wife of Robert Kirk, Justin Woerth, Joel husband of Jackie O'Connell, Emily wife of Cam Stoltzfus and seven great-grandchildren. John K. Gebhart, age 94, of Quarryville, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at home. He was the husband of the late Mabel E. Aukamp Gebhart who died in 2020. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Chester K. and Wilhelminah H. Ezren Gebhart. John served his country in the Philippines with the Army 85th Engine Boat Company. He worked for Armstrong World Industries in Lancaster. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing parcheesi, and going to auctions. He enjoyed baseball and he played on the Smithville Church League in the 50’s. He was an honorary lifetime member of Indian Run Hunting Camp in Potter County. Eli L. Lapp, age 20, of 468 Union School Road, Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
He was born in Oxford, son to Amos K. and Elizabeth Z. Lapp of Oxford. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Ernest Lawrence “Larry” Hoscheid, 60 of Kirkwood, formerly of Chester County, passed away at his home on Monday, August 8, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Lisa M. (Gibson) Morris, with whom he shared 6 years of marriage. Born in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of Pearl E. (Kite) McCahon, of Lancaster, and the late Richard L. Hoscheid. Larry was a graduate of West Chester East High School, class of 1980. Following graduation, Larry found employment in the food service industry as a line cook, mainly for Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, working in this field for 40 years. A man of diverse interests, he enjoyed reading books and following professional wrestling. Samuel J. Ruffing, 73, of Camargo Road, Quarryville, PA passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Joanne Shaw Ruffing. Born in Altoona, PA he was the son of the late John and Laura Makin Ruffing. Sam retired from ALCOA in 2006 where he was employed as a mechanic. He was also a builder, building several garages in the Quarryville area and building his own Car Repair Shop which he operated for 12 years. He also built a house in Fenwick Island in Delaware where he thoroughly enjoyed spending time. William Robert Tomlinson, Jr., passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 with his 5 loving daughters and his little buddy, his cat, Pumpkin by his side. He was husband, dad, brother, pappy, pappy Bill, Uncle Bill, and a good friend to all who knew him. His journey here is done, a life well-lived. Bill was born on December 5, 1927, in Rawlinsville. One of seven children, he was the son of the late William and Blanche (Groff) Tomlinson. Bill was the loving husband of the late Dorothy Sweater "Dottie" Tomlinson for 71 years at the time of her passing in March of 2021. He retired from Hamilton Watch Co. after 39 years of employment. He also owned Dottie's Snack Bar with his wife. Bill proudly served in the Philippines as a lineman in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Jean L. Kipp, 82, life-long resident of East Drumore Twp., went home to be with the Lord on her own terms, to reunite with family on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Allen P. and Jeanette M. (Esbenshade) Bucher. She was the loving wife of Alfred William “Bill” Kipp for 52 years at the time of his passing. Jean was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She was also fond of her two dogs, Andy and Daisy Sue. Jean is survived by 3 children: Karen Kipp of Harrisburg; Kevin, husband of Dana Kipp of Haymarket, VA; and Krissie, wife of John Fernandez of Quarryville. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Hannah Deland and Jerel Fernandez; a sister, Jill Shimp of Quarryville and several extended family members. John R. "Pop" Hall, Sr, age 89, of Christiana, PA, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 4, 2022. He was the husband of Doris Kauffman Hall, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on July 2nd. He was born in Middletown, PA, son of the late George & Gertrude Esh Hall. He attended the Cochranville United Methodist Church. He was the founder of Hall's Paving of Christiana. He enjoyed his business so much he never fully retired and continued to work alongside his son and helped out where ever he was needed for as long as he was able. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work, snowmobiling, going to the mountains and most of all spending time with his family. Paul L. Lintner, 96, of Parkwood Drive, Lancaster, PA and formerly of Nickel Mines and Georgetown Road, Ronks, PA died Friday, August 5, 2022 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. He and his wife Judith P. Roschel Lintner celebrated 61 years of a loving marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Catherine Dickel Lintner and stepmother Rebecca Smith Lintner. Paul retired from A&P Supermarkets in 1983 where he was employed for over 30 years. Most of his working years were spent at the East King Street A&P in Lancaster and at the A&P in Oxford. He served his country in the US Army during WWII from 1945-1947. |
