John W. Beers, Jr., 84, of Quarryville PA, formerly of Paoli, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was the widow of the late Barbara Troxell Beers who died in 2017. Born in Upper Darby PA, a son of the late John W. and Velva Kennedy Beers. John was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. John had also driven school bus for 40 years in Paoli. He had served in the US Army during the Korean War. Janet M. Horst went home to be with her Lord on August 1, 2019 at the age of 77 after a long illness. Janet was the loving wife of 53 years of the late William H. Horst, Sr. She was the mother of Laura Jeanne, and the daughter of Rudolf B. Styer and Josephine Sheaffer Styer. She was the sister of Rudolf Styer, and Shirley Y. Gegg, all of whom preceded her in death. Cristian M. Barajas, 22, of Peach Bottom, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 1, 2019, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born in West Chester, he was the son of Joel and Ana Lilia (Narvaez) Barajas. Cristian attended Solanco High School and enjoyed drawing and riding motorcycle. Clara Mae Swinehart, 87, of New Providence, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 1, 2019. She was the loving widow of the late Robert D. Swinehart, Sr. who passed away in October, 2018. She was married July 19, 1948 and would have celebrated 71 years together. Born in Lancaster PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Hamilton. She worked at various jobs throughout her life. Clara was an excellent cook and seamstress. She had won multiple ribbons at both Quarryville and Lampeter fairs for her jellies and sewing projects. Her holiday dinners with family will always be remembered and missed. She loved to write poetry, and had a poem published in the book “Through the Hourglass”, titled “Winter Snow”. Melissa V. Kipphorn, 47, of Holtwood PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, August 4, 2019. She was the wife of Harold A. “Butch” Kipphorn, Jr. They had celebrated 27 years of marriage. Born in Baltimore, MD, Melissa was a daughter of the late Lacy and Evelyn Sayers Blevins. Melissa was a real people person; however, she also loved her animals, and had volunteered at ORCA. She had been employed at Giant, Willow Street, PA. She was a member of the Lancaster County Sportsman Association. Dr. Harriet S. Wells, 86, of Quarryville entered into rest on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Katherine (Raynes) Van Horne. Harriet spent over 40 years working as a psychiatrist. She had been employed by the Coatesville VA Hospital for over 25 years. She was a poet, artist and avid reader. She loved serving God and others and had done various volunteer and service work in the local Amish community. Mary K. Blevins, 77, of Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care. She was the widow of David O. Blevins who died on June 13, 2008. Born in Drumore, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Viola R. Graver Boone. A homemaker, she was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and birdwatching. William E. Overly, 85, of Quarryville, died Wednesday, July 31 at Lancaster General Hospital8/2/2019
William E. Overly, 85, of Fulton View Road, Quarryville passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred H. Rhoads Overly. Born in New Texas,(Fulton Township) he was the son of the late Ella Mae Duff Overly Barr and the late Samuel M. Overly. Bill retired from Armstrong World Industries after 43 years of service in the Corlon Department. Following retirement, he was employed by Willow Valley for 17 years working with the ground crew. Ronald William Delp, 75, passed away in his home on July 31, 2019. He will be greatly missed by the people who loved him: his children, Cathleen (Delp) Bassetti, Holly (Delp) Dexter, Mark Delp, Leslie (Delp) Jones, and Jennie Delp-Osicky; his grandchildren, Savannah Jones, Shane Delp, Alexander Bassetti, and Tristan Jones; his dear friends, Sandie Brown, Kim and Tony Nardella, and Lisa and Jeremy Smith; his siblings, Joyce (Delp) Himmelberger, Richard Delp, Ann (Delp) Seidel, and Mark Delp; and his other friends and relatives. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Helen (Phillips) Delp, of Reading, PA, and his brothers, Barry “Bud” and Terry “Pete” Delp. Donald E. Moore, 83, of Quarryville, passed away on July 30, 2019 at his home. Don was born, October 8, 1935 to the late Park and Iva (Stauffer) Moore in West Lampeter Twp. He graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 1954. Don spent most of his life in farm related employment, the last being with RH Rohrer & Sons Feed. After retirement he enjoyed providing transportation for many Amish families in the Solanco area. |
