Evelyn Lucille Ager Schlosser, 79, of Pusey Mill Road, Lincoln University, PA went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 12, 2019. She was the wife of James C. Schlosser. Born in Ligonier, PA she was the daughter of the late James Walter and Evelyn Lucille Kohler Ager, Jr. A homemaker for 57 years, she was also a cosmetologist for many years. She enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, cooking and baking, especially for holidays, with Christmas being her favorite. Paul L. Herr, 90, formerly of Stony Hill Road, Quarryville, PA died Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Oak Leaf Manor South, Millersville, PA. He was the husband of the late Freda Dearolf Miller Herr. Born in Peach Bottom, he was the son of the late Daniel H. and Henrietta Johnson Herr. Paul was a truck driver for Herr Motor Express for 35 years and had worked part time for H&F Tire Service. He had served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan and Korea and was a life member of the Paul R. Struble Post 8710 VFW, Strasburg and the American Legion Post 194, Rising Sun MD. Eleanor Patterson Snyder (Pat), 96, Willow Street, passed away peacefully August 12 at the home of her daughter Luan, in Millersville. She was born on a farm near Gap, PA on July 18, 1923. She was the second child of T. Donald and Helen Hess Patterson. Pat graduated from Little Britain High School in 1942. During World War II she lived in California and worked as an airplane mechanic for Cal-Aero Flight Academy on Primary and Basic Training planes. When she returned to Lancaster she worked at RCA and Hamilton Watch where she was the pitcher on the Women's Softball team. During that time she married Fred R. Snyder and had a daughter, Luan. Following his death in 1959 Pat sold real estate, drove a school bus for 20 years and retired in 1989 from the Quarryville Post Office where she was a rural mail carrier. Sara L. “Sally” Roland, 82, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care. Born in Kerman, CA, she was the daughter of the late Richard Murphy and Jean V. Mitchell. She was the companion of Walter L. Todd, Jr. of Quarryville. In her earlier years, Sally had tended bar at the J&B Hotel in Quarryville and the Bullfrog Inn, Georgetown. She retired after many years as a licensed cosmetologist. Sally enjoyed gardening, painting, and spending time with her family. Karen L. Izenour, 64, of Manheim, entered into rest on Thursday, August 8, 2019. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of Maria L. (Schmidt) Herr of Quarryville and the late Thaddeus W. Herr. Karen graduated from Solanco High School class of 1973, where she played in the band and also was a contestant in the Miss Solanco Pageant. She went on to be a successful businesswoman, managing human resource departments in the health and printing industries and helping her husband in his printing sales business. Mary G. Marietta, 90, of Rigby Road, Peach Bottom, PA died Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Manor Care, Lancaster. She was the widow of Frank David Marietta. Born in Peach Bottom, Pa she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Helen Milburn Murray. A career military nurse, she served in the US Army from September 1956 until her retirement on April 1978. Attaining the rank of SFC E-7 she served in Valley Forge General Hospital in Phoenixville, PA and Lettermen Army Hospital in San Francisco, CA. Dorothy M. Gainer, 81, of Holtwood, PA, passed peacefully away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt Joy, PA. She was the wife of Glenn E, Gainer. They had celebrated 55 years of marriage. Born in Conestoga, she was a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Lillian M. Frey Walton. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, azaleas, and loved her 2 Shih Tzu’s, Sassy and Cuddles. She enjoyed watching butterflies, and attending festivals. Earlier years she worked at various department stores and later years a homemaker. Michael Anthony Newport, 59, of River Road, Holtwood passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 8, 2019. He was the loving husband and best friend of his wife Deborah Bauer Newport, celebrating 15 years of marriage this past June. He was the son of Leroy and Shirley Ruland Newport. A dedicated employee for over 40 years, he worked for Anderson Bakery currently known as Tree House Foods. William H. “Bizz” Retallick, Jr., 74, of Quarryville, entered into rest unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William H. Sr., and Mabel (Benedict) Retallick. He was the loving husband of Sharon L. (Shaeffer) Retallick for over 33 years. Bizz was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoyed throwing darts, hunting, and fishing. Dennis James Willard, 58, of New Holland PA, formerly of Bartville, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was the loving husband of Angel Killinger Willard. They had been married for 7 years. Born in Lancaster, Dennis was a son of Robert and Joyce Weaver Willard. Dennis had been employed for 20 years for Hess Mills. He enjoyed writing poetry, NASCAR, Phillies, Eagles, camping, and taking road trips. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by 4 children, Amanda Willard, Shawn Killinger, Jessica Throne, Destiny Wise; 10 grandchildren; siblings, David Willard, Donald Willard, Douglas Willard, and Danny Willard. |
