William Zackary Baker, 37, of Christiana passed away unexpectedly as the result of a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of William F., and Phyllis (Mayberry) Baker. He had been with his wife and high school sweetheart, Nichole (Smith) Baker for over 23 years. Zack was a 1997 graduate of Solanco High School. He was an electrical and plumbing sub contractor with Noble Electric. He was an avid fisherman who loved taking fishing trips with his sons and close friends. He also enjoyed crabbing with his in-laws, Harley Motorcycles and Ford Trucks, especially his 2012 F-150. Ruth Weaver Rankin was born in Lancaster County on February 5, 1932, to her parents, Naomi and J. Paul Weaver. Ruth attended and graduated from the East Lampeter High School in 1950. Ruth married Earl W. Rankin on June 7, 1953, and they celebrated 59 happy years of marriage. Ruth and Earl had a baby girl on December 2, 1956, Pamela Jo, and lived in the Willow Street area until 1970, when they moved to Strasburg Township, where they resided until Earl’s death in 2012. Ruth worked in the family business, D.M. Weaver & Sons, for forty years at central market and Kitchen Kettle. Ruth was the creative partner to Earl on the many homes he built and restored in the Willow Street and Strasburg area. In 1983, Ruth and her daughter, Pam, started Maple Croft Interiors at the old Maple Croft School building, until it closed in 2011. Carmen F. (Sue) Henry, 71, of New Providence, PA, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. She was the wife of Albert J. Henry. They had celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Sue was born in Columbia, PA, a daughter of the late James and Dorothy Samson Yarnell. She had been employed at Darrenkamps Market, Willow Street, PA in the produce department. In addition to her husband, Sue is survived by 2 daughters, Danielle Henry, Kutztown, and Angela Henry, Lancaster. Jean E. Kreider, 95 of The Glen at Willow Valley, formerly of Quarryville, PA, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016. She was the widow of the late Samuel H. Kreider who passed away in 2005. Born in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Agnes McCue Woodward. In her early years, Jean worked with her late husband on the family farm, now known as S & A Kreider and Sons, Inc., Quarryville. For many years Jean and her husband Sam volunteered at the Solanco Fair, Jean in the kitchen and Sam on the Association. In 2002 they were named Grand Marshalls in the Solanco Fair Parade. Jean was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, where she also served in the kitchen for many years. She was a member of Farm Women #15, and had served as a clerk at the East Drumore Twp. voting polls. Jean had taken up the game of golf in her later years which she enjoyed. |
