Donald P. Grimm of Drumore PA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday July 8th, 2020 at his home. Born on September 16, 1949, in Washington, DC, Don was the son of the late Donald P. Grimm Sr. and the late Janes Hayes. He was the loving husband of Judy (Talley) Grimm. They celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage this past August 16th.
Don proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After the military, he was employed by Philadelphia Electric Company until his retirement in 1998. Charlie E. Caldwell, 72, of Peach Bottom, went with the angels on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. Born and raised in Peach Bottom, he was the son of the late Thomas Early and Ruth Vena (Greer) Caldwell. Kind, generous, loving, and caring are words that were frequently used to describe Charlie. He had a one of a kind personality and once you met him, you were bound to love him. His family was the most important thing to him and he cherished spending time with them. The day his daughters made him a “Pam Paw” was one of the happiest days of his life. He loved spending his days surrounded by his family and playing with his grandkids. Matthew David LeFevre of Peach Bottom died at home July 4, 2020. He was 42. He was born in Lancaster the son of J. Arlan LeFevre and the late Trudy Lee LeFevre. A graduate of Solanco High School and the Associated Builders and Contractors Electrical Apprenticeship, Matthew was passionate about his trade. He was a construction electrician and worked for several local electrical contractors during his years in the trade. Matthew was an extraordinary man known as “Matt” by his friends, a free spirit who was loved by all who knew him. Matt enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, throwing quates, and riding his motorcycle which was his true passion and pastime. He also loved to set off fireworks that would scare the daylights out of you. Matthew was a selfless, caring, and loving person with a friendly face that was always there for you. Louise R. Wenger, 95, died July 6, 2020, at the Glen at Willow Valley. She was 95. She was the daughter of the late H. Leo and Helen (Loy) Rice and was born in Andersonburg, Perry County. Louise graduated from Blain Vocational School and Penn State University with a B.S. degree. She taught home economics in South Lebanon Township and also in Schaefferstown,. She later served as bookkeeper for her husband’s insurance business in Quarryville. Louise was a member of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, having served on the church board and was active in the Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of Farm Women #15, having served as treasurer and on various other committees. Louise also volunteered for Meals on Wheels in the Quarryville area for many years. Zachary Tyee Love will always be remembered for his kind, gentle, and creative spirit and his devoted love for family, friends, and animals. Zac showed courage, strength, and determination in the face of a long struggle with depression, anxiety, and addiction. In the end, his pain became overwhelming and he died unexpectedly on July 3, 2020. He was 36 years old. Zac leaves behind his son, Zachary Cash, his significant other, Anne Lowe, his mother, Kay Love Hushon (husband Dan), his father, Jewell Love, aunt, Susan Boldt, uncle, Dan Boldt, and a circle of beloved friends. He was predeceased by grandparents Tom and Barbara Boldt and Norma Love. Zac is free from suffering and rests in God’s comfort. Zac worked in construction trades. He was an artist, a musician, a reader, and had a deep appreciation for nature—collecting stones and driftwood, and sharing the joys of wandering in the woods and creeks with his son and Anne. Zac attended George School, Solanco, and Edinboro University of Pa. Anne Cole Anderson, age 84, formerly of Peach Bottom, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Conestoga View Nursing Home.
She was the wife of the late Donald Anderson who passed away on November 29, 2001. She was born in Lancaster and raised by her maternal grandparents, the late Lee and Rosa Johnson of Little Britain. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Cole and Ruth Johnson Cole Mills Grasso. She was a part of the Solanco High School Class of ’54. In her free time, Anne loved embroidery and needle work, listening to country music and NASCAR. Bonnie L. Hensel, age 63, of Drumore passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday July 3, 2020. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of V. Louise Griest Davis of Quarryville and the late John W. Davis. She loved cows, covered bridges and most of all her grandkids. In addition to her mother, she is survived by 2 children: Jody L. wife of Paul Smeltz, Roger R. England companion of Susan Della Rova of Drumore, 6 grandchildren: Bryan, Joelle, Jeffery, Alison, Regina, and Kevin, 2 great granddaughters: Faith and Lilly, 6 siblings: Vickie wife of the late Buster Osborne of Holtwood, John Jr. husband of Roxanne Davis of Holtwood, Bill husband of Vicki Davis of New Providence, Larry Davis companion of Rhonda Holloway of Quarryville, Barb wife of Lorenza Fryberger of Delaware, and Donna wife of Dale Devonshire of Holtwood. Patricia A. Scheid, 77, of New Providence died at Lancaster General Hospital, Friday, July 37/6/2020
Patricia A. Scheid, 77, of Fairview Road, New Providence, PA passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. She and her husband Richard H. Scheid celebrated 56 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of Isabelle Wade Bingaman and the late Charles K. Bingaman. Pat graduated from Lancaster General School of Nursing in 1964. Her career was spent in the nursing field where she was the first nurse hired and employed by Willow Valley in 1984 and served as the head resident nurse until her retirement. Her nursing commitment led her to care for others, especially her mother. She enjoyed trips to Disney and going to the beach at Christmas. Her dog “Happy” gave her much joy and she was a proud member of the “Three Musketeer s”. Pat attended New Providence Church of God. Jerry L. Criswell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde Leon Criswell. Jerry was the loving husband of Connie for 57 years. Jerry was a graduate of Solanco High School, class of 1962. He worked for General Motors Corporation in Wilmington, DE for 33 years and retired as a supervisor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Sheri Criswell, Tammy Sheets, wife of Steve Sheets, and Sandi Walls; 4 grandchildren, Megan Carr, Kelsey Carr, Joshua Geib, and Veronica Walls; and 1 great-grandchild, Nevaeh. He is also survived by his extended family and his beloved K9 buddy. John S. Haverstick, Jr., 73, of Strasburg Township passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 following a short stay at The Gardens at Stevens nursing home. John was born on May 31, 1947 and was the son of the late John S. and Rhea Vaughn Haverstick. He is survived by his wife Ruth Walton Haverstick with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage on June 16, 2020. John was raised in Kirkwood, Colerain Township, graduated from Solanco High School in 1965 and proudly served his country as a member of the Marine Corp Reserve during the Vietnam War as a Lance Corporal. He retired from Brethren Village Retirement Community where he worked in the property maintenance department. John and Ruth are members of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church in Quarryville. |
