Rhonda Grier Johnson, 79, went home to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on July 20, 2020. Rhonda was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1940 - the youngest child of Scottish immigrants Sam and Helen Bell. She grew up in Brooklyn, and met her future husband Carl there in 1957, at a Billy Graham Crusade. They were married at the age of 19 and when children came along, she dedicated her life to raising them. After her husband retired 23 years ago, they relocated to Kirkwood, PA. She enjoyed music, and sang in church choirs for most of her life. Leon P. Stauffer Jr, 91, entered into eternity on July 7, 2020. He was the husband of the late Rosina Stauffer. He was born and raised in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania by his parents, Leon and Esther Stauffer. He was the second child of six and the oldest boy. Leon graduated from Upper Moreland High school before joining the army right after World War II. He was stationed in Europe where he met his future wife, Rosina Stepancich. They married and returned to the states where Leon spent 40 years as a welder in manufacturing. Rosina and Leon raised six boys and one girl. Wilma Eileen Plaisted, age 84, formerly of Peach Bottom, passed away at the Ware Presbyterian Village on Friday, July 17, 2020. She was the wife of the late Carl W. Plaisted, who passed away on July 7, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Harry & Wilma G. Shute Riegel. She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed cooking and bird watching. Surviving are 3 children: John husband of Karen Lindsay of Hudson, FL, Valeria E. wife of Charles Pierce of Peach Bottom, Nicholas W. husband of Terry Plaisted of Lancaster, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Wanda Elaine Maxwell, 68, of Phoenixville, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Nashville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Brown) Wagner. Family was very important to Wanda, and she loved her children very much. Wanda was the sweetest person one would ever meet. She led a simple life and would give the shirt off of her back if she was able. Frank B. Leed, 94, of New Providence, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, while under the care of Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine M. (Whirt) Leed, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. Born in West Lampeter Township, he was the son of the late B. Frank Leed and Myrtle (Andrews) Leed Lefever. Frank grew up attending one and two-room schools in Lampeter. He went on to be one of the first employees of Andrews Excavating. Frank worked his way up from being an equipment operator to being an estimator, retiring with 54 years of service. He was also a farmer, raising tobacco and vegetables each year. Herbert C. Osborne, 81, of Cochranville, PA, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. Born on Sept. 2, 1938 in Little Britain, PA he was the son of the late Claude and Nancy M. Greer Osborne. He started school at Eastland, then to Solanco and then graduated from Scott Sr. High School while he worked at Auditorium Theatre. He went on to Edward W. Bok Technical High School to become an electrician. His first job was with Waterson Electric. Local Union 654 took him in and he held several positions while working for Henkles & McCoy and James Silvie. Many good men worked with him over the years and he thanks them all. In his spare time, we would find him in the mountains where he was a member of the Chester County Hunting Club in Bradford County. He held memberships in American Legions, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Germania Fire Co., and the Rod and Gun Club. Lizzie S. Glick, age 74 of 89 Quarry Road, Quarryville, PA, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Born in Bird in Hand, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Sarah Stoltzfus Glick. Lizzie was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Surviving are 7 siblings: Rebecca S. wife of Daniel B. King of New Holland, Bena S. wife of Henry S. Zook of Ronks, Simeon S. husband of Mary Zook Glick of New Holland, Abner Z. husband of Barbara Kauffman Glick, Benjamin S. husband of Sadie Kauffman Glick, David Z. husband of Barbara Petersheim Glick, all of Quarryville, and Arie S. Kauffman of Christiana. David M. Collins, Sr., age 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. He was the husband of A. Irene West Gaskins-Collins, the late Arlyn E. Welty Collins who died in 2011 and the late Ann M. Rademaker Collins who died in 2003. Born in White Salmon, Washington, he was one of 12 children of the late Arthur and Agnes Dowdy Collins. David was a career Navy man who earned his Bachelor's Degree from the U. S. Naval Academy and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Electronics from the Naval Post Graduate School. He was a member of Harvest Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, PA. Shannon Diane Rivera, 43, of Columbia, entered into rest unexpectedly on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Gregory Rivera and Kim, wife of Phillip “Butch” Stevens, Jr. Shannon had driven truck for various companies. She also helped her dad with his roofing business and worked as a hostess at Lyndon Diner. She was very artistic, which was expressed through drawing and dancing. She was a loving “Ya-Ya” to her grandchildren. Shannon is survived by her 4 children: Kindred Sky Miller, Irye Rain Miller, Maizzi Moon Heiselman, and Canyon Clay Heiselman; two grandchildren, Ethan and Aria Kenney; a brother, Evan Stojak and a sister, Alyce Mohler. Lynn A. Street, 65, of Nottingham, entered into rest on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Penn Medicine Hospice of Chester County. Born in Delaware County, she was the daughter of the late Irene Watts. She was the loving wife of Timothy P. Jennings for the past 11 years. Lynn had retired from the Boeing Company, having worked in various positions over the last 40 years. She was known for her contagious smile and warm personality. Lynn loved animals and expressed her creativity through arts, crafts, and gardening. |
