Elwood H. “Woody” Welk, Jr., 83, formerly of Elkton, MD and Lancaster, PA died Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Calvert Manor Health Care Center, Rising Sun, MD.
He was the husband of the late Nancy Jane Pickell Welk who died August 29, 2019. Born in Salisbury Township, he was the son of the late Elwood H. and Marian Romaine Rice Welk, Sr. Woody was a truck driver for 30 years, for Laidlaw Trucking. He also was the maintenance manager for Muirfield East, Inc., a thoroughbred horse racing farm. Frank Leroy Krauss of Nottingham, PA, born May 25, 1951, died April 10, 2020 of cancer. Son of the late Howard Earl and Doris Miriam Fuller Krauss of Nottingham, PA. He is survived by his daughters: Misty Krauss, Lisa Krauss (husband Darryl Perez), Celeste Hill (husband Sam Hill), Grandchildren: Adrianna Styer (husband Jessie Styer), Katerina Santiago, Sabrina Santiago, Ethan Wilson, Darryl Perez II, Casadi, Madison, Nicholas, Sam, Great Grandchild: Zhavia Ruth Styer, Siblings: Francis Foor, Doris Reese, Daisy Woodward, Gladys Perry, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank Everett Brown, 66, of New Providence, entered into rest on April 13, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Veryle D. and Susan (McGowan) Brown. He was the loving husband of Beverly E. (Work) Brown for over 47 years. Frank had been employed at Burnham Corp. as foreman and supervisor. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and vegetable gardening. Above all, Frank was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Franklin Leroy Shreckengast, 67, of Palmyra, formerly of Quarryville, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020. Born in Kirkwood, he was the son of the late Arlie W. Shreckengast and the late Carrie A. (Tyson) Blevins.
Franklin was a graduate of Solanco High School, class of 1971. After high school, he went on to be employed by Exide Battery, retiring with over 40 years of service. Franklin had a passion for deer hunting, and he looked forward to going out each year for archery and rifle seasons. He also loved to take his grandsons fishing and spend time with them. Having a Native American heritage, Franklin was known to recreate Native American keepsakes. Betty Elaine Snyder-Mendez, age 68 of New Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on April 09, 2020. She is survived by her husband, Jose Antonio Mendez, and her eight children: Wesley A. Mendez husband of Stacey Mendez, Tony A. Mendez husband of Lori Mendez, Melissa M. Mendez-Rivera wife of Matt Rivera, Valerie L. Mendez-Saez wife of Joe Saez, Stacey Y. Mendez-Albright wife of Wayne Albright, Jocelyn B. Mendez, Jacoby C. Mendez, and Herman Santana husband of Eva Santana. As well as her fourteen beloved grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Betty Parmer Snyder and two brothers, Lloyd Snyder and Jerry Snyder. Emma V. Ranck, 87, of Paradise Township, died peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Born in Salisbury Township, she was the daughter of the late Galen and Susie (Hershey) Hostetter. She was the wife of the late Parke H. Ranck for 60 years at the time of his passing in 2018. Emma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was dearly loved by many. She was very hospitable, enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and crocheting. She was also an excellent cook. She especially enjoyed spending time with her swimming friends. Mary B. Miller Lewis, 78, of Quarryville, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at her sister’s home, Kennett Square.
Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Fouth Miller. Mary was employed with Hewlett Packard, American Manufacturing Technologies and Synthes from 1988 until retiring in 2011. She was active in the cub scouts and girl scouts. Mary enjoyed vacationing in Sea Isle City, N.J., trips to Williamsburg, VA and family camping trips. David Allen Brown, 35, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Marina, wife of Keith Clevenstine of Lancaster and the late Veryle D. Brown, Jr. David had been self-employed as an arborist. He had attended Solanco High School and enjoyed motor cross racing and hunting. David was a generous person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Robert L. Robert L. “Bob” Becker, 81, formerly of Ronks and Manheim, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 at Conestoga View Nursing & Rehabilitation. He was the husband of the late Becky J. (Shank) Becker, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2018. He was also the husband of the late Frances Joellen (Lengle) Becker, who passed away in 1979. Born in Cornwall, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Leroy and Anna (Stefonich) Becker. Bob was a graduate of Cornwall High School, class of 1956. For over 30 years Bob performed carpet installation. He then went on to operate a cargo van service and perform facility maintenance at The Jay Group and Parkesburg Walmart. Cheryl L. Robinson, born on December 17, 1957 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in her home at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the devoted wife to Richard R. Robinson of 41 years. She was also the loving mother of Dustin Robinson (deceased), Kristen Hershey, wife of Brandon Hershey, and Lauren Robinson and also the proud grandmother of Mya Hershey. Born in Ephrata, PA, Cheryl was the daughter of Clair and Dorothy (Hammond) Graham and the sister of Michele Kassees, wife of Keith Kassees. She was also the sister-in-law of Dr. J. Steven Robinson (Martha), Vicki Carb, and John Robinson (Gail) and aunt to six nephews and one niece. |
