Harold J. Glass, 84, of Marticville Road, Lancaster, PA died Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA. He was the husband of Ruth V. Martin Glass. Born in Kirkwood, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret A. Hammaker Glass. A Vietnam War veteran, Harold spent a 20 year career in the US Air Force. Following his military career, he worked for Lancaster Leaf for 23 years as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on genealogy and the family tree, doing yard work, going on long Sunday drives, and in his younger years, working on cars. Dewey J. Bolen, Jr., 84, of Nottingham, PA passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Shirley D. Broomell Bolen with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Elkton, MD he was the son of the late Dewey J. Bolen, Sr. and Alice E. Jones Rentfrow. Dewey was employed with NVF Co. in Kennett Square for forty-five years. After retiring he was employed with D’Ambrosio Chevrolet in Oxford. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2666, Oxford. He enjoyed sports, NASCAR and wrestling. Dewey especially enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s events. Mary E. Anderson, 82, of Peach Bottom PA, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019. She was the wife of Howard E. Anderson. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Mary was born in Little Britain Twp., a daughter of the late Harry and Alice Hess Keefer. Her family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed deep sea fishing, and had an artistic touch in wood burning artwork. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son Allan Anderson (Toni O’Shoughnessy), Holtwood, granddaughter Amanda Perron (Jason), great granddaughter Aiva,, and her sister Doris Gouge, West Grove. Ruth Patricia (Groff) Frackman, 83 of Paradise, passed away on Friday, March 29th, 2019 at her home in Bart Township. Born July 24, 1935 in Drumore Twp, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus C. & Anna Trimble Groff. She was the wife of Harry W. Frackman, Jr. and together they had celebrated 62 years of marriage on December 1, 2018. Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Southern Lancaster County Joint High School and had worked at Hamilton Watch and Tidy’s Products prior to becoming a farm wife and homemaker on the Frackman Family farm. She was a 65-year member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church where her and Harry had served as Deacons in the past. Ruth enjoyed the many aspects of farm life and also knitting, jigsaw puzzles, family picnics and eating at various local restaurants. She will be remembered by her family the most as being the best “listener”. William Floyd Absher, 84, of New Providence, formerly of Peach Bottom, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Beulah (Burton) Absher, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Forest Hill, MD, he was the son of the late William Walter and Martha (Barker) Absher. In his early years, Floyd farmed on the family farm and had his own farm for a few years after he was married. He then went on to work for 38 years as a machinist, first for Wiley’s Shipyard in Port Deposit, MD, and then for Getty Refinery in Delaware City, DE. Floyd was a talented woodworker, building many wooden crafts, such as wooden calendars, to teach skills to young children. As a young man, he was a member of Conowingo Baptist Church. Most recently, Floyd was a member of New Providence Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading his Bible and other Christian books. Floyd also enjoyed his companionship with his pet Sammy. |
