Dorothy J. Tout, 84, of Lancaster PA, formerly of Quarryville, PA, passed away on March 8, 2016. She was the wife of the late Arthur E. Tout, Jr., who passed away in 1998. Born in Quarryville PA, a daughter of the late Willis C. and Edith M. Lefever Zander. Dorothy had worked as a secretary for the Clayton Shenk Tune-Up shop in Millersville, retiring in 1981. She had also worked for 25 years at Jerry’s Dress Shop, Lancaster, retiring in 1989. Kirt R. Johnson, 46, of Quarryville, PA, passed away on March 7, 2016. Born in Lancaster PA, a son of Betty Lou Shaub Johnson, Willow Street, PA and the late John E. Johnson. In addition to his mother, he is survived by 3 children; Joshua Johnson, Lancaster, Jessica Johnson, Julie-Anna Johnson, Quarryville, 2 grandchildren; Jadelyn and Braxton, siblings; Kevin Johnson (Kimberly), Rawlinsville, Melissa King, York, Michele Henry (Jesse), Willow Street, step children; Steven Cornelius, Quarryville, Justina Kirk, John Kirk IV, both Quarryville. Paul C. Aukamp II, 57, of Holtwood, PA, passed from this earth to a higher realm on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. The first born of Paul and Barbara Leed Aukamp, Strasburg Twp. Paul was a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg HS and the Willow Street Vo-Tech carpentry program. He was employed for most of his adult life as the small engine repair specialist at Drexel Auto Supply in Mt Nebo. Paul greatly enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardening, painting figurines, cooking, and his massive Christmas lights display. Thomas R. “Rink” Devonshire, Jr., 75, of Buck Heights Road, Holtwood, PA died Sunday, March 6, 2016. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Thomas R. and Ida E. Reynolds Devonshire, Sr. Rink had been the husband of Doris Douts, and Carol Snyder. A business entrepreneur he owned and operated Devonshire Disposal Service in Quarryville. He was a former member of both the Croaking Frogs, and Pequea Boat Club. Rink was an avid racing fan, from drag racing, dirt track, motor cross, to NASCAR, especially Dale Jarrett. His other enjoyments were watching “his movies,” (which was actually Professional Wrestling) and TV hostess Vanna White. Two women in Rinks life that the family wishes to express special thanks to are his mother in-law, Kitty Snyder and his sister in-law Darlene Devonshire, affectionately known as “Old Mother Hen.” Lorraine F. Steiner, 50 of Orchard Road, New Park, PA died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Lancaster Regional Hospital. Born in Johnstown, PA she was the daughter of Donald H. Miller, Sr. of Holtwood and the late Elsie Kay Beener Miller. Lorraine had been employed in retail sales by Turkey Hill Stores. She enjoyed hunting, and dancing. Lorraine was a member of Lancaster County Sportmen’s Association. She had completed and was certified by the Responsible Alcohol Management Program sponsored by the PA Liquor Control Board. Charles Walker Lowe, age 63, of Rising Sun, MD passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Born on April 27, 1952 in Grundy, VA. He was employed by John Zartler, farming for most of his working career. He was a big fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles sports teams. He also enjoyed fishing. Charles is survived by his children, Charles Ernest Lowe and his wife, Kelly of Leonardtown, MD and Shelley Goetchius of Exmore, VA; sister, Margaret Pomante of North East, MD; grandchildren, Destiny Goetchius, Steven Goetchius, Katherine Lowe, Sarah Lowe, and Caroline Lowe; former spouse, Doris A. Lowe of Belcamp, MD; 2 nephews, Brian Lowe of North East, MD and Patrick McCardell of Quarryville, PA. Carolyn R. R. Herr, 81, of Quarryville, entered peacefully into rest on Thursday, March 3, 2016, surrounded by her family.
“Sis”, as she was loving known, was born in Refton, a daughter of the late Ray A. and Kathryn (Rohrer) Reese. Her husband, Robert G. Herr died in 1987. Sis graduated from Solanco High School and went on to graduate from the Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of Zion U.C.C. John B. Thompson, 90, of West Grove, entered into rest on March 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Born in Cranford, NJ, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Barlow) Thompson. He and his wife, Joyce (Harris) Thompson had celebrated 63 years of marriage in July. John graduated from A.I. DuPont High School and went on to graduate from Penn State with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He worked and retired from the dairy industry, specializing in Guernsey cattle. He was a faithful 50 year member of the New London Lodge # 545, F&AM, where he had served as a Past Master. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of John’s passions was working in his garden. Some of his fondest memories were from spending time with his wife in Alaska. Ruby V. Blevins, 101, of Quarryville PA, passed away on March 1, 2016. She was the wife of the late Lester W. Blevins, who passed away in 2010. Born in Chilhowie VA, Ruby was a daughter of the late William and Lona Davis Hash. She was a charter member of the Wrightsdale Baptist Church. Ruby enjoyed sewing, quilting, spending time in Okeechobee, FL, and being with her family. She had been employed by both the former Schick and RCA companies, Lancaster, and had retired from Watt and Shand store in the drapery department. Anna Marie Houser, 84, of Lancaster, died on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of James L. Houser, Jr. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Alice E. Binkley Deatrick. Anna retired after 17 years of service from the Lancaster State Police Barracks where she worked as a clerical secretary. She was a member of the AFSCME, Union of State Police and an associate member of FOP. She enjoyed going to the seashore and sewing. |
